If they have a good reason for going dark, they could have had a the same effect, and kept trust, by sending out a “We need to shut down all media for the next week, but just wait to see why. You’ll be so amazed.” It would have still been cryptic enough to generate intrigue and views/interactions, but without the loss of credibility. It would have had the same effect they were going for, but would have drawn people in rather than put people off. I think this was a failure in judgement. Just my opinion.

The problem is that everyone knew it's a publicity stunt within 24 hours. So the "impact" is already diffused pretty significantly. The cat's out of the bag so to speak and expectations are sky high.

Also, I am not sure how anyone can draw a conclusion that it worked like a charm yet.

Their next video will definitely get more YouTube views than they ever got before, no doubt, but the jury is still out on what happens after that.

Roman posted his new video, and the pinned comment says "Hold off on the negative comments and tune in on Wednesday when I respond to whatever announcement TPG makes on Tuesday."

I find this kind of funny. Obviously TPG's dumb shenanigans are their own business, but Roman did align himself with them and boost their channel. Now that they've pissed everyone off, you don't really get to tell people, "Hey, please don't criticize me for that!" You are unfortunately judged by the company you keep.

@13 minute 50 seconds minutes very interesting how they decided to do business, Marco says Anthony was a good online “hustler” I’m not sure that’s a good connotation

to obtain by energetic activity

to sell or promote energetically and aggressively

to lure less skillful players into competing against oneself

Yep, he’s a good hustler.

It’s not a problem. Views have increased to 263K. If he would have come clean after 24 hours, he would missed out on a majority of the impact.

It’s beyond obvious how he has this forum, his peers, and his fans/haters/audience eating out of the palm of his hand.

Roman recognized a rising star and latched onto him for publicity. Then, copied the “reality show-inspired” weekly videos. Nothing wrong with Roman’s strategy. All these guys align with (i.e., use) each other to grow their awareness and business.

I read that these guys were posting replica pictures on Instagram and then deleted the account when many people started to call them out on it

Anthony posted a steel sub modified with fake blue dial and bezel to look like a white gold smurf here on TRF. Caught flack here too.

Is he the hairless guy with the ears or the one with the beard?

Not only did he post a discussion thread about it, he also had it listed for sale in the classifieds section. I don’t believe that he was upfront about the dial (maybe bezel too) being aftermarket.

I’m not defending the guy but yes, but in the spirit of truth, he stated clearly it was a mod made with aftermarket parts.

Happened in April last year and can be accessed if you’re interested.

We are talking about private companies (not government owned companies).

You do not have the right to force them to *not* take down posts if it violates their TOS.

If Facebook wants to ban you for violating something, they can.

Same goes for TRF.

tech companies want it both ways: be regulated like an open forum BUT ALSO edit content like a newspaper (which are subject to be sued for libel or slander).

No one wants to be regulated like a Utility.

That's a horrible state to be in as a company.

Except big tech companies overwhelmingly contribute to one political party over the other.

Also, they were censoring posts based on Fauci’s input (who works for the govt.).

If FB & Twitter are taking down posts based on political ideology, then the China, Soviet Union analogy isn’t so far fetched.

Plus, they make their stupid rules up as they go along. There is questionable content all over YouTube, FB, Twitter, etc. It’s only an issue when it benefits their agenda.

The problem is that FB, Twitter, Google, YouTube didn’t exist back in 1996 when section 203 was passed into law as part of the Communications Decency Act. No doubt it would have been worded differently…

Let’s keep the discussion focused on the CPG or TPG or whatever they’re called now
