I have no problem buying Pateks from grey dealers whether sealed or not. In terms of my recent incomings three were sealed pieces direct from AD and one was from a very reputable used dealer from whom i previously bought my 5970r and 5100p. The three pieces I bought from the AD were considerably cheaper than any other dealers grey or authorised that I approached.

In conclusion there are lots of excellent grey dealers and I have no problem buying from them if the price is right. To the OP good luck and keep us posted!

Same here no problem buying from grey, but it just happens that buying from AD gives me better prices when you take everything together...

@lapince- all good. When you wrote "OP" I thought you were referring to me.

Anyways- thanks to everyone on their feedback for the grey market dealers. Makes me more comfortable to deal with them now.

My last two Pateks, though nowhere near in the same league as the 5270 (But I am extremely happy with them and suits my needs) were bought from non AD's all with the correct documentation & boxes, including one that had actually been freshly serviced and even checked out on my behalf by the after sales staff at the London Salon.
Both pieces registered on the Patek Philippe website.

I understand that it is a delicate position/decision for the OP to make.

Only he knows, whether, in the future he will be looking to add an application piece. Which in that case the AD has two be the correct route. If not buy from the grey dealer and potential save themselves a load of money :)))

For more than 30% off, you go for it, he can always buy other pieces at AD if he wants application pieces, if AD was close ok, but seems far from it, so I say GO GREY...

For me buying from Govberg was a no brainer. When the R was announced I called George and asked to be notified when he was getting one. He said I was first in line and stayed true to his promise. It is a watch that I want to pass down to sons or grandsons and wish my name to be on the certificate. I am sure he will help me greatly if I ever have a problem. 10 months and absolutely no regrets.

Always buy Patek with a nice discount (AD or Gray).

I have used several Patek AD's in US, some will play the you get the first, #1 in line BS (at full retail--who cares and can see through that dribble they give every client) but you feel like they are doing you a favor (they aren't) or another will shoot straight 20% +/- off and will call when they get it.

Cut the attitude and buy where you are comfortable and get a deal every time .

Patek is a watch--buy right.
