Possible scam alert!!!
Had a guy email me today about one of my watches for sale. Everything seemed to be going as normal conversations go. He said he saw my watch here, what was the best price, and so on. Then he sent me a link to check out his gallery. I didn't click the link and the emails kept going back and forth quickly. Finally after he asked for my best price, he asked if I checked his link yet. I said no I won't click any unknown links. The link did have Rolexforums in the name. I asked him what his username was so I could find it myself. He said that he was looking at other watches. Never gave me his username or replied to my last email once I told him I wasn't clicking the link.
His email is "watch collector" and address is amimoghaddam@gmail.com. I apologize if he is legit but why would I look at his watches when he is trying to buy mine? Avoided giving me his name or username. Also typed part of the link into google. He said he was in Tampa but it's some Asian site. The Rolexforum was attached to the end so likly a phishing scam. Also the site is .nz which is out of new zealand

Good job, wish he’d have given you a username, if he even has one.

I got one too. His link he wants you to click on does not take you to trf. He's trying to get your password for TRF.

He tried to scam me today as well. My guess is he has another TRF account he is using to see what's for sale.

Yes, I checked the link out (I know how to do so safely). It shows a page which pretends to be this forum and says you have to log in. However, it's broken and badly done--if you had used it, it seems it would not have captured your password (at least as it stands at the moment)--it's misconfigured. However, yes, be aware of scams like this!

He keeps asking me if I've "checked out his page". When I said "no, not necessary", he's gone dark.
I think I'm going to ask him for his full name, ssn, dob, and mother's maiden name. |

Just got an email from “Watch Collector” through a different email. I clicked on the link he posted saying that I could view his collection. Here is the message:
On Sep 21, 2021, at 1:46 AM, Watch Collector <wc997.911@gmail.com> wrote: Hi, Thanks for your email... Buying the watch for my birthday I am ready to proceed with payment and shipping. Btw Will you be interested in trades, See below for my collections https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=800454 Thanks When I accessed the link, it took me to a page in TRF that said I could not access the page. But I noticed that I was not signed into TRF (I am usually automatically signed in). I put in my login info like an idiot. I don’t know whether I should be concerned but be careful people! |

I avoid outside emails all together when selling by not listing my email address and only communicating through DMs. It looks like everyone who received this email has their email address posted on their listing.
