Best Rolex for legibility - what’s your suggestion?

Legibility is important to me. I find the black Sub very easy to read in any light and without my glasses. The contrast between the hands and gloss dial is outstanding.

Absolutely! Even though the tritium lume on my old 14060 is completely dead there's still enough contrast to read the time in most low-light situations...but not when it's pitch dark, of course!

Side by side of Polar Exp2 and JC. You would see that the Polar Exp2’s dial is much bigger (both in actual size and in appearance) and much more legible than the JC.

The big wide hands, blazing lume and 42mm make the Polar Explorer easily the winner in my collection. The GMT hand lets you know if it’s day or night at a glance (though not sure if I’d ever be in doubt). It’s literally made for caves and places with low visibility. Sub with maxi dial would be #2 for me.

I would say that every Rolex with three hands, black dial, round AND rectangular indexes will be the best shot regarding legibility.

Submariner, sea dweller, deepsea.

I can read my 16610LV at night, even early in the morning, at a glance. That is the beauty of differenciated indexes.

When the minute hand is near the 15minute area, accurate readings are difficult for me.

Markers, plots and indices do not tell the time... think of the movado “museum watch.”

It’s all about the hands.

Rolex sub is about as good as it gets for the brand (Daytona the Worst)
Panerai and the patek aquanaut, as legibility goes, are the best I have worn.

I would’ve said my Explorer 2 white dial…..but then I saw my SA’s 41mm sub and side by side I was very impressed with the legibility of it….I’d go for equal 1st

Definitely the Exp2 with the fat hands and large blobs or hour markers. Here's the new 2021 model and u can tell the time from a distance.

I think that as a whole, Tudor makes a very legible watch. My black bay 58 is definitely more legible than my SD 16600. A few posts above was a Tudor, not sure the reference, watch with extreme legibility.
