It will be a 116600. SD 4000.

Beautiful but getting pricey now as discontinued. A cheaper alternative would be the 5 digit version 16600 made up to 2008 M serial.

I have small wrists and if I’m honest I think sub 40mm modern sports, or Rolex pre ceramic watches look best on me.

5 digit subs
Tudor BB 58

Or my personal favourite and watch I think is very very underrated in the watch world for SS mid size sports watch: omega Seamaster 36.25mm.

Or wear a Jubilee which I prefer anyways
Indeed. I had this problem with the Sub 14060m and Explorer 36 114270.

Wow, that Sub 41 on a small wrist should be a lesson to all..... I would suggest the BB58 or New Explorer 1, And bring an honest friend to give it the seal of approval.
I have a 7" wrist and I'm conscious of the limits of what I can wear. the 36mm is a classic for a reason.

I’m in the same boat as the original poster, with a 6.25 inch wrist. I have the 36mm Explorer, which I love. But I would also like to have a Rolex Submariner, GMT, or Daytona with the more obvious sports watch aesthetics. They are all bigger than I would like, so I had to look at other brands.

I bought a Glashutte SeaQ which is terrific and 39.5 mm, and wears small.
https://www.ablogtowatch.com/hands-o...-seaq-39-50mm/

You might also consider the new Zenith El Primero Original Chronograph (38mm) or a Blancpain Bathyscaphe (38mm).

https://www.zenith-watches.com/en_us...0-3600-21-c903

https://www.blancpain.com/en/fifty-f...5100-1140-o52a

None of these is a Rolex, so they frankly won’t scratch the Rolex itch. But they are of comparable pedigree and quality, so I’m sharing here for brainstorming!

There's also the Speedmaster 38mm. Many of these are clearly women's watches (MOP dials, diamonds) but the more plain ones can easily be worn by anybody.

That's what I was going to suggest. Predating the GMT-Master, I believe the OP DJ 36mm Turn-O-Graph "Thunderbird" was the first production Rolex designed for pilots with a rotating bezel marked in minutes and used for timing between waypoints. It's a shame production ceased a decade ago, but gently used pieces sell for US$7k to $8k from trusted sellers. I picked mine up earlier this year. The reference 116264 is available with either a white or black dial, and the red date wheel, second hand, and "TURN-O-GRAPH" on the dial give it a sporty look.

The older six digit Air Kings, eg 114200, in 34mm. They have the robust Oyster bracelet and case, with the newer clasp and COSC certified movements.

You are on the right track. 14060M or pretty much most of the 40mm 5-digit sports watches will be a match for your wrist.

Somehow the oyster+ GMT doesn't look "oversized" like the jubilee
Also found the SubC 41 to visually look smaller then a GMT. I think because of the fat numerals of the GMT. Or perhaps the slightly better proportions of the Sub, not sure

Best advice for OP is a 40mm YM. They wear smaller since they have curved lugs. Also the big bezel on the YM makes the dial look a bit smaller and better for smaller wrists

Apparently, as of a month or so ago, Rolex was also still shipping new 11520 models (34mm OP Date). They have the date, and PCL, but some dealers seem to still have brand new ones (and they make it into the case, i.e. not too in-demand).

You'd need to have a permanent link removed with a wrist size of 6.25 inches

YM37 and you can find them without doing the AD gymnastics for just a smidge over MSRP. Currenty going for the same as the Explorer 36 over here.

For your reference. My wrist is 6.25. , I prefer the dj and ym 37 over the sub. Sub looks nicer on thicker wrist imo.
