Just not sure.... DJ/DD

So after having my DJ41 Azurro for nearly a year, I find myself always putting my AK on every day and only wear my DJ for smart dress for evenings out etc.

The blue DJ is what I had on my wish list since my early 20's so was happy to finally aquire this last year.

I will soon have my BLRO and feel that I will then get my satisfaction from the AK for an every day oyster and BLRO for every day jubilee.

I've had my eyes on the white gold DD with olive dial now for a little while.

I don't think I need both DJ and DD, and could use the DJ to trade against the DD to help me with the funds.

Would I regret selling the DJ??

I know we say only I will know but I don't as I'm the most indecisive person ever, so just a thought and any feedback appreciated.

Thanks

My DJ is screaming in the safe. It wants out. I would have traded it (please don’t tell it I said that), but I would have lost too much and can wait. So it screams for attention while I enjoy this.

I'd sell the DJ and get a DD. I have the RG version. The olive dial is amazing

If you're not wearing the DJ, do you think you'll want to wear a DD often?

I do wear it every weekend but as I'm always casual during week I grab the AK. I'm def going to show my interest in a DD, Just feel like if I get the DD will I need the DJ. With the BLRO I will have the jubilee sorted so would be nice to have the oyster, jubilee and president trio.

Just not sure if I would need both.

Keep all of them. I sold my DJ, DD, numerous see dwellers, BLRO, yacht master. I regret every sale. Sadly, I didn’t need the money when I sold them.

i had a dj and have a dd (in yg). dd was the grail and i stopped wearing the dj once i got it and got rid of it eventually. i now have 2 watches (dd and ap 15450) and i'm waiting to get a two tone wimbledon datejust. i used to think the two couldn't coexist in a collection because they're too redundant but over the past i've realized there are a lot of times i want to wear something flashy but don't want to go for the day date. but with a white gold day date i don't see the point of having a datejust as well. if it's a colored gold day date then i do

Sell it. DJ shouldn’t be too hard to reacquire if needed.

Since you are going with a WG DD, I think the DJ would be redundant.

I’m in the same quandary and I’ve decided I don’t want two watches that have the same style, one will inevitably not get worn.

Your air king, blro and DD would make an amazing trio (field, dive gmt, and dress)
Round off to four with a chrono (Daytona) and you’ve covered different aesthetics, functions and bracelets

Sell the DJ ! Once you own a PM day date.... you WONT even THINK about wearing
a DJ. The weight of the DD alone will sour you on the DJ !

Of course... IF you have the funds.... dont sell anything. BUT... seriously.....
wearing the white gold DD will spoil you for sure.

I have a platinum DD and just cant be bothered with anything else. lol
My poor other watches sit idle.

Agreed, and I also see RoRoRo’s point, too. The PM really is more in the eye of the beholder than anything else. The diversity RoRoRo mentions is key, and part of that is the type of occasion that would bring you to wear each of those pieces.

I also have a 118206, plus a YG one. The YG ends us being used far less often than it’s Jackie Stewart brother because it’s so much flashier (the YG + fluted bezel doesn’t exactly fly under the radar), despite being a far less expensive reference. Things here at the beach just aren’t that formal, but I’d never get rid of it. Odd that I can way more easily “daily” a PT President comparatively, but that’s the fun part of the diversity you’re creating!

Given the # and particular references you’ve already got, I’d say go for it. The DD will more than replace the spot of that DJ, and take it up a fulfilling notch at the same time. Let us know what you do!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Pretty much sums up everything I was thinking. Especially seeing that it's a white gold version I'm after, don't see myself needing the DJ.

Will be a while till this happens, acquiring the BLRO is my priority at the moment.

thanks again

I sold my DJ long before I got my DD.
No regrets at all. The difference is night and day.

As long as you have the funds, DD is far better.

Totally agree with your points.

I, myself don't like the GMT as I feel the watch is a little on the dressier side, I wouldn't want to know the time in a different country when out for dinner. I'd want it as a casual sport watch hence my preference for the EXP II.

Defo need to decide on the situation and attire for the watch.

I'd keep the DJ. I currently wear a DJ41 Rose Gold TT to the office and also have a SS Sub. I honestly would feel somewhat awkward wearing a DD to the office. I try to maintain a low key status here.

Similar style but very disimilar price point. Keep the DJ for when you are in sketchy places, traveling, trying to look for down to earth etc.

Have you tried on the white gold olive dial? Once you see it live you will immediately sell off the dj and whatever else you own and take the olive dial. Djs are lovely and all but they can’t compare to a dd on olive. Plus you can buy another blue dj anytime and anywhere.

I've not seen one in person, I called the AD yesterday and she said they are not taking any names on the DD. I will ask once I've collected my BLRO and wife's DJ and go from there.

I can imagine how it's going to feel, which is not always a good thing as I will be on the hunt for one.

With the white gold DD you will get much more wear than with YG or RG. But I have a soft spot for the DJ, it's a great watch, more versatile than the DD and that blue dial is fabbo.
It is like Jello, there's always room for a Datejust.

Once you buy the DD the DJ will mostly collect dust if currently is mostly unused; would upgrade to DD rather than keep it
