Fluted bezel is a huge winner in my eyes.

The smooth bezel always made it feel and look less prestigious IMO.

But then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder! lets hope those who like smooth bezel get the call very shortly to snag up the last few.

My 228239 WG DD 40 fits the bill for me. I really wish I could change the bezel on mine to smooth and it would be almost perfect.
I had expressed a desire for a DD Platinum with diamond dial and was going to trade my Pepsi GMT and WG 40 DD with diamond dial. The smooth bezel to fluted is testing my desire.

Observant Muslim men can not wear gold but can wear platinum according to Islamic teachings. Platinum fluted bezel Day Date’s are going to do well in the Middle East

On the current conversion that is c. £48k but I "think" the current DD40 Platinum with smooth bezel is c. £53,000 over here.

Be interesting to find out and am waiting for my AD to confirm the UK pricing here.

UK price includes VAT, whereas the US price is plus sales Tax

This is the best Rolex release that I have ever seen. And probably the most impressive engineering since the GV sapphire?

I've never liked the fluted bezel.

I bought a platinum DD specifically because it had the smooth bezel.

Sorry.... thats just my preference. NOT HATING on ALL fluted bezels . LOL

My PT DD has a smooth bezel.... thats the way THAT watch has ALWAYS been...
and THATS the way i like it. Its just that NOW.... as i was wanting to get a 40mm..... I won't be able to get it with a smooth bezel from the dealer.
If I get one.... I'll have to swap out the bezel.

So... I dont know what i am gonna do.
whatever. I'll figure it out.
I feel exactly the same. I was considering trading my DD36 plat for the DD 40 but would not do a fluted bezel. I’m up in the air now. Good luck trying to find a used DD40 plat smooth bezel at a reasonable grey price now

So no increase with the new fluted bezel? Recently visited a few AD's looking for the smooth bezel platinum and that was the price of the outgoing smooth bezel.

Don't like it either.

It doesn't change anything for me since I can't afford it, but the smooth bezel was much more refined (and that's the watch I'd have bought if I had won the lottery)

Smooth is the way to go for platinum. Everything else about the watch fits right in. Took this photo just now

Well OK then... lol to each his own. I won't be getting one now if i cant have
the smooth bezel ... AND.... I wanted the baguette diamond dial. Now i think they dont offer that dial anymore. I think THAT dial would look pure AWFUL
with the fluted bezel. TOO busy. It was the simplicity of the smooth bezel and the baguette dial on platinum that appealed to me.

OH well. Maybe my AD will still be able to get me what i want.
He's been working on it for months now. Maybe it wasn't meant to be.
And yes... I have the smooth bezel platinum 36mm with the glacier blue dial....
so i'll be keeping that guy.

Its funny how people see things..... a fluted bezel to me always looked like
a ladies watch.... not the other way around. lol
It is funny, to me, fluted looks more masculine, diamonds, more feminine.

I think your bezel is slightly domed. Much better than the current, flat DD40 bezel.

as someone who wears a DD40 YG daily, the fluted bezel will hide scuffs and dings better than the smooth bezel. I think it is a great addition to the lineup!

My vote … Fluted Bezel

Personal choice, but just a classic look to me.

I’m paying $1,150 extra, for my girlfriend’s 31mm DateJust, just to get the Fluted Bezel.

i wonder if Rolex will allow you to get the smooth bezel instead.
If not.... thats IT for me. Will have to swap it out or go with with a 2021.
Fluted with a jubilee would look really nice
