What do you do when you go overseas?

I’m flying overseas and plan to take three of my rolexes. Do I need to take receipts or proof of purchase from the US with me so that when I’m reentering back in the US they don’t ask to collect customs?

Thanks

If you are worried, then just snap a pic of your receipts and forget about it unless you get asked, then open the pic for proof... recommended by my AD.

Never take any receipts, etc. Never been stopped or asked.

Why risk taking 3 watches. Personally I would take one or none.

Never been asked to provide receipts. As a matter of fact, never been asked about any item I carry. Just make sure to place high value items in your carry-on luggage and be cognizant of keeping an eye as your bag goes thru the scanner.

Probably because he wants to.

Phone pics of the receipts sounds like good advice. Take a pic of your passport while you're at it.

Now that you mentioned why not make a copy of your receipts, couldn't hurt.

I have photos of the receipts and my family’s passports on my phone. I only have the watch I’m wearing though.

Customs has a form you can fill out before you leave which makes the return entrance a breeze.

You can take your watches to a US Customs office along with the serial numbers and they will issue a form showing prior ownership. If you are questioned by Customs upon reentry into the US, the form will prove you owned the watches prior to your trip. Without the form, Customs can seize the watches and hold them until you show them proof of prior ownership. I’ve never been questioned on watches. Other items, yes.

Why would you take none? Is the world so scary outside your own country?

Like said above.
I would carry the watches with me obviously.( not in checked lug.)
And just take a pic of the receipt with the watch next to it if you like...and if the receipt has serial number it s a bonus...
I would not declare them as they are yours and were not purchase overseas.
I think if you tell them you have 3 watches they gonna start digging.
I travel with 2 watches all the time and Don t bring receipt. ..but usually one is a beater .

This. I’m sure you have your reasons for taking three but consider if you really want to worry about keeping three high end watches secure. Only option would be hotel safe, not the crappy in room safes.

i carry mine in my carry on.. ive been asked a couple of times, told them they are my personal watches and they travel with me as i dont feel safe leaving them behind.
None are brand new and i emphasize that and i tell them ive had them for years....

never questioned beyond that

Snap a pic of the warranty card. My AD also sends me electronic copies of the appraisal so that's always in my email.

I’d take one, but not three - for the practical reason that my insurance only covers my watches when they are on my wrist or locked away (and a security lock on a carry-on doesn’t count)

Always have a pic of every watch next to the warranty card and proof of purchase (receipt).

Never have to worry about a thing.

I generally fly or take a boat when going overseas. I’d wear the one my wrist and leave the rest home.

I usually either wear only one nice watch or carry a digital watch with me on my travels.

Why do you want to bring three watches with you when you have to deal with the hassle of your luggage, delays, TSA/US Customs?

i just wear one, a all rounder watch, would seem risky to leave it in a hotel safe everyone can open in reality

I also make pics of the warranty cards, so the custom officer could see that everything is fine. However, I have never been asked about my watch(es).
