When I started collecting, it bothered me. Thankfully this period was very short. I love my 2nd hand watches as I love the ones which I bought new. Besides, you cannot find certain vintage watches without accepting that you are not the first owner. I appreciate the watches for what they are and I really don't care about the name on the warranty card. Let it go and enjoy your timepieces!

It would annoy me a little bit, I admit it. I like having my name on the card or no name at all if I need to flip it so that the next buyer can put his name if he wishes to. Not the end of the world though, I could live with that. I bought grey and I bought from AD. I got a blank card with no name from the grey (although with the date of purchase) and my name on the card from the AD of course.

How many times have you even looked at the warranty card after you bought the watch? Honestly I have NEVER looked at them unless I'm taking it back for warranty to RSC.

Doesnt bother me at all. It could say Mickey Mouse for all I care.

Nope. It's never bothered me one bit. All that stuff stays stored away and rarely gets looked at.

If I think about it, then yes a little bit. But I remind myself I saved ~$2k and I forget all about it.

In fact, my first Rolex was purchased from an AD and has my name on it. It hurts me more knowing that the watch is worth thousands less than the price that was paid for it.

Many BNIB trusted seller watches already have someone elses name on the warranty card. This is a non issue. As long as card is valid, who cares. Once the watch goes to RSC for service, your name will be on the warranty from that point forward.

I was gonna say the same thing. I am very weird. I am removing the name once the warranty is over.

Maybe it’s because I am gonna hand the watch down one day. Maybe I will put my kids name on it instead of mine.

Now it’s even funnier that the main reason I bought a watch was to enjoy, but also hand down. I did buy from a trusted seller though to save a big chunk of change. Man the days where you could save 1500 on a BNIB Sub vs an AD after taxes lol. I guess my son though does not mean enough for me to buy from an AD with my name on the card though hahaha.

Yes, call me creepy haha

So first was actually a member here. We actually had a good chat.

The 2nd one the trusted seller sent me detailed picks of the warranty and original receipt. The receipt had the guys phone number. I called haha. We actually had a good chat and he told me a little on why he was selling NIB watch and how it ended up to a trusted seller.

Wear the watch on your wrist and keep the card in you safe. You will forget that name soon enough....

MY name is on the warranty card, but it looks like a first grader printed it on there. If the salespeople can't print in a neat fashion, I think the store should have the person with the neatest penmanship fill out the warranty cards, even if it is the cleaning lady. This is the thing for me that was the worst part of the AD experience.

I have tried to get past this, but alas I can't. Even if it means saving a lot of money, I have never been able to keep a used one or even a new one with someone elses name unless it was BRAND NEW. But that is just me. Wear yours in good health :)
I'm right there with ya. Maybe it's a Dmv thing.

I don't buy second hand or grey market because I don't want someone else's name as part of the provenance of a watch that I intend to keep and wear for the next 50 years and then give to posterity.

Also, I'll never be comfortable after hearing the story of the person who bought a stolen watch from a trusted seller (not on this forum). All you know is who you're buying the watch from, not who that seller bought it from if they're not the original purchaser.

Nah, not interested and not worth it to me. To each their own though.

I think it adds history into your watch. My Ferrari warrantee booklet has the name of the original buyer on it, doesn't bother me a bit. This booklet is like the Rolex card which can't be replaced and makes the car more desirable

I wonder if there is a recent Daytona purchaser trying to figure out a way to get Paul Newman's name off the warranty papers. I suspect not.

The thought of someone else’s name on the warranty card for my watch makes me cringe. For that reason, I always buy new and I sleep much better.
