Really, really, REALLY ho-hum...After last year's excitement, I was hoping for more than been-there-done-that skeleton PAMs, more (& smaller) Due models and more snap-on caseback models with integrated bezels.
There is not a single model that grabs my attention. I would take any of last year's SIHH models over these....Consider last year's Lab-ID, BMG, 671, 721, 682, 684, 687, etc....with hindsight & especially in comparison to SIHH 2018, wow, last year was epic for Panerai. Oh well, at least with Panerai, you know there will be more releases every month or two throughout the year. |

Luminor Due and Luminor Logo - great new selection. Luminor Due has 38, 42, and 45mm models, and Luminor logo has 3 day manual wound new movement 6000. I will definitely consider the 906 model.

Not a fan of any of these. Love last years 687 - that would be tough one to top.

Surprised. You usually see one model that is at minimum half decent but this year, nothing. Underwhelmed.

If this is it, I am underwhelmed, but happy. Every year doesn't need to be a big splash with 'new' watches that are 95% the same as something from the past. I think Panerai needs to find itself and look toward the future. They need to grow their base and like it or not, the 'die hard' community is not as important as it was even 5 years ago. The need to attract new customers and to do that, perhaps some updating/change is necessary.
I also scratch my head at those that hiss at the 100m rating. This rating will be perfectly fine for 99% of the population. True divers would never wear a base PAM for diving purposes. I am a fan of some of the new straps though - the grey canvas with blue stitching is neat. |

if I bought one and it wasn’t right I’d be more pissed, rather wait for it to be right like all new materials. also heard they might not make it at all

What's "interesting" (to put it kindly) is that there are more posts about Panerai and SIHH 2018 here at TRF than at p.com.... I think that's a very clear sign how much Panerai blew it this year. :-/

I'm really hoping Panerai has more up its sleeve to show us this week. Two high priced novelties, update to their Base models, and pushing more Due? This isn't it for SIHH is it?

sometimes companies introduce pieces at these shows and that doesn't always mean they'll be produced. would I like a bmg, absolutely but if they think there will be problems with it then they need to rethink it. all in all this years new additions are underwhelming to say the least. have a great day and enjoy the week.

I wonder if this SIHH might be the real reason for Angelo Bonati's "retirement": Richemont saw what was coming last autumn and said, even if it was too late to change things for SIHH 2018, that "new blood and a new direction is needed ASAP".

Well, I'm loving L'Astronomo. If that's at a sensible price point, I'll be all over it like a shitty blanket
