Hi Shaggy,

Nice pics. Is that with the 18-55 lens, or did you change the package when you bought? I think you shot on AF, try it on MF and pick your plane of focus manually.

You may be better with a zoom with Macro Facility, rather than a dedicated Macro Lens. Dedicated Macro Lenses are optimised for flat-field work, while you're really taking close-ups of small 3-d objects. That said, Canon does a nice 60mm Macro which is a nice short telephoto with your "C" sensor size. You may find that the 100mm Macro is a bit too long - more for "bug-hunting" than jewellery.

What (I think) you DO need is a tripod (I prefer an offset-ball-head for close in work), a decent flashgun that you can bounce & swivel with, and an off-camera connecting cord to get the flash well away from the camera.

If you think that watches suck you into spending money, then I wish your bank cards the best of luck in camera shops!

Regards,

Mike.

they were taken with the 18-55 lense that came with it
i do have a tripod and used it
i did have it on af though and did try to get it blurred round the edges where its focused if that makes sence?
the first pic is meant to show the bezel around the 40 mark with the rest of the watch blurred
the 2nd was trying to show the dial etc
4 & 5 were getting the crown in the crystal and if you zoom in you can see it kind of lol
the last 2 were trying to get the rolex on the wall of the dial
ive been looking at these for a bit of fun

im not expecting anything professional with these for the money but thought they may be a learning/experimental tool?
