Rolex owners with multiple dials

Does anyone else have a rolex watch and like a few variations of it? However, you really only want one watch? My solution between owning my lacquer blue dial and liking the sunburst too. If I ever want to switch it up I can take it to a watch shop to swap out the dials. This can save me about 35k .

I like this. Thought about it when I got my black dial ceramic Daytona. I’d also like to wear a white dial every now and then... how did you purchase the second dial and ensure it was authentic?

Rolex owners with multiple dials

I had swap dials a few times on a couple of Rolex watches (DD, YM, Daytona) to achieve the look I want, nothing wrong with that!

I found only one dealer with an authentic one on chrono24. Cost me an arm and a leg for it. Also, I had to import it from italy. The seller had a really good reputation and its still sealed in the blister pack. Now its discontinued, it will be harder and harder to find authentic dials. I figured let me
get it now while I can find one.

Its better than swapping straps imo. The hardest part is finding real dials.

I have DJII with dark rhodium diamonds. Also have a blue stick and ghost Roman dial to change it up.

Timely post. I've been thinking of picking up a blue stick dial for my DJII to go with the silver Arabic dial I currently have. Need to find a trustworthy source

Does anyone know if the dial feet for the 3230 movements are in the same position as the 3130? If yes, then all of us with pre-2020 Oyster Perpetuals can source the new dials for our current watches and just swap them from time to time. I'd love the new green as a complement to my blue Explorer dial.

How much does a good watchsmith charge (roughly) to decase a Rolex movement and do a dial swap?

No. 3230 doesn't even have dial feet. It has a lip that goes around the movement

Does doing that affect WR? How about dust and particles?

Great info. I didn't know that. Thanks! Do you know if a 3230 dial would be compatible with a 3130?

No 32xx dial is compatible with 31xx due to the 32xx dials having this lip in the back that goes into the movement.

Thank you! I figured as much when you wrote that it had that lip. Of course they would alter it just enough to thwart our plans!

Rolex owners with multiple dials

I bought two years ago another dial and hands for a Daytona. Picked it up in Belgium from a private seller.
There are enough dials around but getting one with the correct hands made it a bit more challenging.

This would be the tipping point for me. If you have a watchmaker you can trust, why not? $35K buys a lot of other things.

In years past I have had several dials for a watch I owned, DD's, but now I do not.

I remember way back when ADs stocked the dials separately. My AD had dozens in the case. They would switch out a dial there and you kept your dial. Many woman switched out their dials to just to match their outfit for a special occasion. And, back then everything was in the case. Whatever you wanted was available at a discount, if you knew the store owner. The good old days.
