Can we talk values for a bit?
I've had my eye on the Explorer II for a while. I'm currently hunting for a "last of" the 16570 White and finding it more difficult than I had anticipated. This was a watch, so unloved, that NOS pieces are still available 5 years later. Why would this watch deserve a premium today? The new version is consistently advertised for 5% below msrp. Can someone please explain how much a perfect watch should cost me? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk |

Had the 40mm black and it was comfortable.. tried the 42mm and found it top heavy despite it being very modern looking

is the bezel replaceable in both, or is it part of the case? (if it gets scratched up)

I think the 42mm explorer ii is my choice of the two. I think the orange hand really sets it apart. And if I’m going with a 5 digit GMT I’m getting a 16710.

Hello !
I have a 1655 and 16550, and I love the format. I also really like the 216570 polar, but the big needles didn't work for me during testing. For the difference in size in 42mm, if you have a small wrist I don't think it fit very well. I'll go on a previous Explo, more comfortable, in your place, but that's a personal opinion, nothing beats trying and making your choices.

To me the 216570 is the only current reference left that traces back to the National Geographic ads I read as a kid where guys navigated the Atlantic in a boat made of papyrus and beeswax and that means more to me than every Instagram wrist roll combined.

It's all about wrist size, the 42mm looked ridiculous on my 6.5" wrist. Love my 2002 16570 black dial. I had a new crystal put on with non-glare cyclops, makes a big difference.
To me the 16570 lughole superluminova is the sweet spot. |

Less is more for me. So I prefer 40mm.

I tried both in store before. The 42mm has better clasp and movement update but I went with 40mm because it has more wearability and proportion imo.

I have a larger wrist (7.5" flat) and the 42mm polar explorer checks allllll the boxes for me. I have owned a black 42 and a white 40. The black 42 was good but never clicked. I didn't love the 40mm I owned. The Polar 42 is fantastic - legible, comfortable, unique.

For me it’s the 16570 as it fits my wrist better as is more elegant imo.

Just got my Polar 42. I do like the dial a lot. The other detail that someone also mentioned is the black circles on the hour markers and the hands. I like the starkness of those against the white dial.
My wrist is a flat 7 inches. It works well I think. Though I wouldn't mind a 40 or 41. The advantage of the larger dial is it's easier for my older eyes. |

I’m lucky to have a collection of 8 Rolex pieces including a 2019 exp 2 in polar dial.
It’s quite ironic that the exp2 having paid (list price) £6250 for, is the cheapest of the collection but it’s my go to watch every day and the most comfortable of the lot. I just wish it had the 70hr movment. |

There both great, having both 5 and 6 dgt Sub, Gmt l went for a 42 Polar. The only white dial I own but that big orange 24 hand really sold me more than it's size, its makes the Blnrs look too subtle and pretty weak in comparison.

I had a Black 42 for about a year. Really shines with a black OysterFlex or Gator band and Oyster Clasp.
