My first Patek

Hi. I always said I would hopefully pick up a Patek when I was 50. I have no idea why I said 50, it just felt the right age for me. Well it was my 47th birthday last week on the 19th and I just pulled the trigger. I’ve been reading a book called “die with zero” which I recommend and that probably pushed the decision. I went backwards and forwards on two pieces, one being a 2012 and the one I ended up buying a 2008 (sold by Tiffany New York) with a 324 movement. It just felt like the right piece for me. Apparently it has a rare dial only produced for a year but they all look the same to me. Wishing you all a great Sunday

Ha, you beat me by a year! I just got my first PP for my 48th a couple weeks ago. Stunning looking piece, looks great on your wrist, congrats and happy birthday...

I hope you bought this a week ago and not yesterday. Congratulations, you won't regret it. An absolutely marvelous watch to own and wear.

Congratulations and happy birthday to you. So what will then be the 50th birthday gift since this has been purchased already?

Congrats, not sure that is the one year dial, that has wider bars, this one looks like all the other year models as you say.

Apparently there are different types of that dial or (not the LED) dial and the way the logo is printed but I agree it looks the same as all the others and I prefer this dial to the LED dial. 😊

Congrats, and as you say, certainly no LED dial. Those came later around 2010 or 11.

Weird time to buy 5711

I mean you could say I got lucky and bought a 5711 the day before they were discontinued. However I still had to buy second hand over RRP. I just always wanted one in my collection. However I can’t believe the amount of negative comments, almost hatred in some cases, on some forums towards anyone who owns one or has bought one not at RRP. I thought watch collecting and the community was different to what I’ve seen this week. I say buy what you like.

F the haters mate! There is a lot of jealousy and unnecessary elitism online. I'm sure "in real life" the response would be 100% positive!

Congrats on your purchase and I think it looks amazing!
