YM vs Sub

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s owned both. The YM is one model I haven’t ever owned but always been tempted. Do they wear much different (in particular the Sub C which is my current)? Does the YM seem same size or wear bigger/smaller? How’s the weight? Any other information would be great!

I’d say the YM wears smaller and more elegantly, for lack of better word. The sub in its current form will wear much larger IMO

YM by far
That configuration is by far the best looking
It shows class and goes hand hand with any clothing and what Rolex represents
The green swatch lookalike will restrict you in many way
Again this is my opinion others will disagree

My Sub C is black

Good to hear on the size most of my previous models were 36 with a few 40’s and this SubC is a hair on the big size. Maybe thinking of swapping it for a 16622

My blue dial YM is more comfortable than my SubC and wears a little smaller due to the dial / bezel contrast. The case on the YM is more smooth. The SubC has sharp edges. The YM Easylink bracelet is more comfortable if you get a good fit. All that being said, I wear my SubC more than my YM.

YM is like a hybrid between Submariner and Daytona in terms of wear and fit, very comfortable. What I mean is, wears smaller than Modern 40mm and the weight is very traditional.

Since, you have the submariner, the YM would be a great addition since it will provide variety with a very familiar feel.

I had a YM for a long time and can come up with these cons, Higher maintenance, PCLs and the platinum bezel are scratch magnets, overall a more shiny watch, no glidelock and depreciation, don't buy this watch at mrsp.

As I said, great watch but Submariner must come first, I made that mistake.

If I had a rootbeer and rose like that one, I wouldn't care how it "wore". It's a gorgeous piece.

People that whine and complain about the case and lug size of the SubC should consider the YM. I prefer the Sub, but I'd love to have a blue dial 40mm YM. I probably won't get one anytime soon though, because there are a couple other watches higher on my list.

I don't have a Sub C - but the earlier version. I also have a YM - the YM doesn't, IMO, wear "small" but it is slimmer. Very comfortable and I love the fit. Someone above said between a Sub and Daytona - I think that's a good comparison - closer to the Sub though.

It wears smaller. It has a thinner case that from the profile looks rounder. I also feel the the watch almost curves a bit to the wrist.

Don’t forget the sub has a maxi case.

As a long time owner of both I will start by saying I like the way they both wear. Goes with their style. The YM almost feels like part of my wrist and feels seemless at the lugs. The Sub is more upright and has a different presence which suits the diver/tool style.

Again both great but I give the YM the nod because It's unique in the way it wears. The scratches haven't bothered me as I've grown used to the light swirls and its stunning but am getting to the point after 13 years where a polish will make this feel new again.

Such a great way to describe it!

The YM has a much more elegant look on the wrist, as the lugs are more tapered and rounded (from both the top and side views of the case). It is a touch thinner, too. I love how it sits on the wrist.

The 37mm version, in particular, is a surprisingly slim watch. Guess it's the new movement?

PCLs will always be a little bling. Get them brushed (lugs, too) and you're set!

The YM is a little blingy. The polished center links, platinum dial and bezel really stand out. It does wear a little smaller than the sub, but not by much. It feels sleeker and a little bit of a lower profile but very comfortable.

YM wears a little smaller and more bulbous as the large bezel is quite dominating, ironically it could do with thicker lugs to balance it out a little more.

Fun fact: I was just at my AD and was inbetween the two! The lugs of the sub are slightly larger, and the watch in general is a little meatier. I chose the sub as it was my first Rolex. Both are awesome though and a great choice

OT: Curious what swatch you think looks like a Rolex LVc Submariner?

YM is ultra comfortable. The curved lugs contour to the wrist bones and caseback nestles in between and sinks into the wrist... Just try it on. I'm not familiar with SubCs but I can't imagine it doing that.
