Opinions and experience with turn-o-graphs?

I'm interested in vintage Turn-o-Graphs (1625, 16264) with WG bezels and I'll probably buy one this summer.

Because I have several sport watches with black dials, I'm looking for a dressier watch with white or silver dial with roman numerals and rotating WG bezel. I like the Oyster band, but most of the vintage Datejust Turn-o-Graphs come with a Jubilee band.

I'd like to hear any comments from owners about things to look for when buying (such as the 1625 does not have a quickset movement) and their opinions about dressing up or down with a Turn-o-Graph.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

I have a 1625 on an oyster band. Personally I think it looks better in style since it is somewhat sportier than a regular datejust. You need end-links ending in -58 if you go the oyster route. So you need for instance 558 end-links for a 78360, but 258 or 358 on a 7836 bracelet. It is definitely dressier than my 1680 or 1675 even with the oyster band.

The lack of quickset functionality does not bother me, I usually change watches at the end of a month and changing the date 1-2 days forward or backward is not a problem.

Note that on the old 1625s the WG bezel tend to yellow a bit, this should not be a problem in the newer ones, however I do not know when Rolex changed their white gold to yellow less. Apparently they alloy it with platinum and palladium nowadays. The yellowing is most prominent in poor lighting.

Here it is, from 1972-ish:
