vintage 1601

hey guys. looking into grabbing this watch.
owner "says" original everything - including the untouched dial & the bezel has been dipped to 10 micron 24kt yellow gold from the original rose gold. the dial just looks way off to me, like it was redone, very poorly.. but i dont have much experience with watches from this era. clearly not the OG band and no buckle, so i'm in it for just the head. from the late 50's with a 1mil serial number. he was asking $1500 amd came down to $1000. lmk what you guys think. Thanks in advance!

1m SN is around 64, new dial can be source for a few hundred. Price isn't too bad, I can't imagine why he would get the bezel dipped

I would pass on that watch. For not much more, you can get one in nice condition with a matching Jubilee bracelet and a clean original dial.

Case polished hard, bezel polished, dial refinished, etc. Even if all is correct inside, could very well be a "franken". You can do better, even at $1600 or under. I just bought a fantastic grey sigma Wide Boy 1601 two tone for less than 2K from a reputable dealer. Yes, the two-tone jubilee is shot, but....
