He never talked much about his experiences but he had plenty of pictures to tell the story and he did adopt a Vietnamese girl that saved his life but even the details of that story are unclear....

The picture was too small for me to note the hexagonal butt piece on the handle. A nice knife indeed! Enjoy your watch and additional items in good health! Best cordial regards, Abel.

That's a great story, Eric. If you are interested in stories about Rolex & Vietnam read Tim Page's autobiography, Page After Page. He was a photo-journalist in Vietnam from in the early days. He bought his Rolex in Hong Kong for his 21st birthday and refers to it several times in his book.

He bought it because it had a reputation for being a rugged watch. Some guy R/R'd into Hong Kong, and bought a couple of them. Dad says he tumbled out of a truck late on the same evening that he picked it up and scratched the crap out of the crystal. I think this it: And that's me on the left: |

What a cool story. I received a Seiko World Time from a friend of the family when he returned from Vietnam. Still have it. It's been serviced a couple of times and still runs/looks like new!!!
