As I said, I've only ever purchased new from an AD, but always already "out of the wrapper" |

Perhaps at an AD, but does the same hold true for the secondary/grey market?
Every watch I've purchased from an AD has been out of its seal. I've never cared enough to ask otherwise. I had assumed that a sealed watch had some added value to some collectors, and that might explain why some keep their watches sealed and in a safe? |

As others have stated, I'd like the chance to inspect prior to such a large purchase. I've not seen a sealed watch but I have to assume that it would make inspection more problematic. |

I have had AD's offer to unseal a watch for me, just to look at. But unless I am really intending on buying it, I always decline, that honour, again imo, should fall to the new owner.

Considering how big Emperor as an AD is, they should replace the watch with a new one, that's if they have one readily available. I bought a 5235 from Eldorado, arguably the biggest and oldest PP AD is HK. The case back fell off the moment the bag was cut. Boss was there and embarrassed, "no worries, we happened to have another one..." and it was replaced. Emperor I guess just didn't want to deal with an exchange with PP and the hassle becomes all yours...

So sorry to see this. Not acceptable. In general, there is a physical limit to how much hand engraving and finishing can be achieved whilst maintaining the required quality level. Once a mfr pushes these human boundaries exceeds in pursuit of "heavenly artwork" you will invariably increase the possibility to introduce flaws. I would much rather have a little less of the "overkill" (you probably would not notice it anyway) and have a product which is flawless to the naked eye. Then everyone will be happy.
