That moment after when you look to see how bad

I was barbequing last weekend and pushed open the screen door with my foot on the way out to the grill, carrying some grill tools and plates of food, and as I took my foot off the door to walk down the two steps to the patio, it slammed hard on my FC718 WorldTimer...

I could tell it hit hard, and I paused before looking at what I hoped was not a busted crystal.

The crystal was fine, but below the 7 is now a 3/8 line / dent in the rose gold (plated -- it's steel underneath). The gold is intact (no steel showing), and I guess if it were solid gold the gash would have been a mile deep.

So I'm chalking this up to some mindfulness training for my future purchase that I've been saving up for...........

I dropped one of my newer watches on the garage floor yesterday. Got only a very small nick and still runs ok. I am very lucky. I also was very careless. I just got an Isobrite "plastic" watch as a beater.

You dropped your beater, or an expensive watch?

I put a dent in an IWC Chronoflieger and scratched the crystal a long time ago. After a service, it looked perfect. Hey, as long as you don't lose an arm, the watch is fixable or replaceable.

Glad to hear -- I don't care about resale value and so will be happy to see it buffed out on the next service
