INCOMING! Seiko Alpinist SARB017

My first impressions opening the box, wow that dial is great and the watch looks a little smaller that I thought. The case is about 38mm but it looks smaller for some reason. Not a big deal though. I've been wearing a sub all week so my perception of case size might be skewed at the moment. I threw on my DD today and it felt super small too. All the reviews I've seen on YouTube are very accurate describing this watch. The positives and negatives about the watch are spot on. The strap is ridiculous. It looks great on the watch but it's as stiff as a board. I'm going to rough it out as long as I can but I would suggest sourcing a strap at the same time you buy the watch. I can't comment on accuracy just yet but it's only 2 sec slow as of running for 5 hours now. It's a very impressive looking watch in person and the pictures on the internet describe the design very accurately. If you like it in pictures, you'll love it in person! Very classic look. I'm not sure how to phrase this exactly but the Alpinist is a very warm and welcoming watch. It's not super flashy or in your face at all but I wouldn't say it's understated either. It just looks awesome and has a sweet vintage feel! The design didn't need to grow on me to be appreciated more than the second it took me to open the box. It seems to be a great watch overall so far and I'm really excited to add one to my collection! No real complaints that can't be solved by picking up a higher quality strap with the same styling and color.

Congratulations. I really like this watch and have almost bought it several times. The green is strong and I thought it would be a fun wear. I jumped over to a Seiko Turtle instead. I will circle back and take a look again.

To set the compass. You can see the compass on the extreme outside of the dial. Have not used it. Owner's manual has instructions.
