Irrespective of these two actual watches I prefer the two liners. One of my only dislikes of Rolex watches is that many of them just have too much writing on them.

It's going to be very hard to find an amazing 5512, so between these two I would go with the 4 liner. Both have very nice dial/hands and K is an excellent seller.

Ideally I'd wait for a fantastic 5513 to come along. They are pricey but they can still be found but for how much longer who knows.

Agreed that both of these cases are over-polished, but of the two, I'd definitely go for the 5512. Better, hacking movement, chronometer rated, stunning patina, and a cooler, more sought-after reference, IMHO. Also, the meters-first variation does nothing for me, meaning I don't think it's any more special than other dials. One of the most over-rated dial details of vintage Subs (no disrespect to meters-first owners). Overall condition and patina is so much more important, of course. Maybe I'm biased because I have a 5512. Good luck either way!

Summed up my thoughts exactly. Thanks man! Hopefully we'll be 5512 buddies soon.

Would you be willing to tell us how much they are asking for the 5512?

I pulled the trigger on the 5512! My first serious watch, my first Rolex.

He had it listed for $8,500, then re-listed a few days ago at $7,000. I negotiated it down to $6,650, which I think is a pretty great price for a 5512 in that condition with such a perfect patina and dial.

Agreed! I'm really happy, especially after searching for months — feels like patience paid off and now I'll finally have a great watch.

As for the springbar issue mentioned earlier - turns out he just had a mis-sized springbar in place, and once he swapped it out for a correct one it's perfect.
