My first GMT Master II Bezel Insert Change

Friends,

I had decided to seek out a OEM Pepsi and Black insert for my 16710, and gather my cojones an try the bezel insert swap.

I did my homework, read the web pages, and watched the YouTube videos that covered this.

I figured the worst that can happen is a scratch and the need for a watchmaker to reattach the bezel for me, so why not?

I used a metal spudger that's designed for the iPad in order to pry it off. I covered the tip with some adhesive tape to minimize the danger of a scratch, and bombs away.

I'm glad to report I am sporting my new Pepsi bezel insert on my 16710! It really wasn't difficult. I think I will swap out the inserts every few months, but some tentpoles like Pepsi for the Summer months, black for the dead of winter, and just play the rest by ear going back mainly to the Coke.

I do confess I like the Coke insert quite a bit (which is why I purchased a Coke), but this method adds a lot of easy and inexpensive variety to my collection.

Thanks to this community to introducing me to this convention!

Thanks, guys! I really don't know why I was so hesitant to try it.

Well actually, I do. I feared that I would fatally damage it.

But I am glad I did! This really is my favorite watch in my collection. I dig it!

Well done! I was scared my first time too.

I use an old credit card to get my bezel off. Works great. No tape, no scratches.

Good job - you're braver than me. I'm scared of damaging it so I had the RSC do it. I'll get around to it one day

Unexpected "problem," fellas.

I like having the different bezel inserts. I intended to pretty much swap them out with the seasons - Pepsi in Spring & Summer, back to the original Coke in the fall, and go Black for the cold winter months.

But I've taken to the pepsi so much, I can't switch it out for Coke.

Unexpected!

That's what's good about this watch. You can get all 3 bezels and get a 3 in one type of watch.

Looks great; I have all three inserts but haven't yet switched out the Pepsi on my GMT. The Coke never was used on my watch model so it seems inappropriate and the black isn't as exciting.

Hey friends,

For no partiuclar reason this morning, I decided to swap my insert to the black version.

I remember all my hesitation leading up to my first bezel insert swap, but this time I just popped it out, made the switch, and snapped the bezel back in place.

Thanks for introducing me to the bezel insert change wonder of the 16710!
