Look at it this way...Rolex "chased" the larger market with three watches: the Explorerii, the Datejustii, and the Day-Date 41. The Day-Date was not a success and Rolex scaled it back as soon as they could. The DJii is wildly popular, and that will stay - sales are high. The Expii is sort of in-between; a few like it, but it's too big for MOST potential Rolex buyers.

Therefore, I believe that they will scale it back to the historic 40.

No way. DD is a dress watch. Too large is bad. Exp ii is a sport watch. Larger size works. And I think it's growing in popularity.

Explorer is my absolute favorite!

I have a 16570 with Black "Swiss" only dial, My wife wears a 14270 from '96.

I would love to see Rolex reduce case size (of both the Explorer and Explorer II). I have small wrists, so prefer to 36mm and ~40mm design.

My dream re-issue/homage piece from Rolex would be a 36mm Explorer with a WHITE dial and faux patina on hours markers, hands! Probably never happen, but I would purchase in a heartbeat... Someday I'll play around with photoshop to see what this combo would look like...

Here's a shot of our His/Hers Explorers right before we boarded a plane for Paris/Italy this fall

I like them, especially the white face. The 42mm size is a matter of personal taste though.
