Explorer 1

I'm looking to purchase my first Rolex. Any suggestions on the Oster Perpetual Explorer 1 and what price range should I purchase it for!

The Explorer is a great watch and if you're not looking for new, the I would suggest the 114270, which can be had for about $5k used.

Just be really careful and buy the seller before your buy the watch.

DavidSW, a trusted seller, has two Explorers listed right now.

More like $3.5 to 4k.

It's a great watch and quite understated. You can fine them for under 5K, from a reputable seller.

The Explorer is the quintessential Rolex. You can get it new for mid 5K.

It's a great all-around watch. I have the 39mm but the 36 is classic. Whether modern or vintage, 39 or 36, can't go wrong.

If you do a search for 114270 here in the classifieds, pretty much every one is priced between 3 and 4k. The only one I found higher was 4,175.

True. 5k would be the price for a used 214270

Great choice! I picked up a 114270 from circa 2000 without box & papers for $3300 on TRF from a trusted seller.

I was very pleased with the transaction and it's a great watch. Bumper to bumper badass. You will love it!

Thank you all for the price suggestions and I found a few at mayors jewelry store near me. The only thing I'm scratching my head about is the $6200 they want. I thought that they was a little over price

That's around the full AD retail price for a 39mm Explorer 214270.

The 214270 is a great option if you prefer a slightly larger piece. You really can't go wrong with any of the references.

One thing to consider, Ebay's prices are a bit higher due to fees. A $5,000 item would cost $645 in Ebay/Paypal fees so the seller would actually get $4,355. I dont sell on there anymore for this reason....

A classic versatile reference. I had one for a short time. It wore a tiny bit small on me, but I have larger wrists. It's probably one of the most overlooked watches Rolex makes.
