Calling all Enablers!

Okay, so here goes. I currently own a TT GMT. I am looking to purchase "The One" and in my mind I think it is the DD Yellow gold with silver dial. BUT....I'm not 100% sure and third party opinions are gladly received and welcomed!

Here are my parameters:
1) Must be PM
2) Must have date function with cyclops (getting old - 49 on Christmas Eve!)
3) Minimum 40mm
4) Prefer yellow gold but am open to suggestions - yellow gold strikes me as the classic Rolex gold.
5) Must be versatile and able to wear with blue jeans or a suit...cuz I'll be wearing it every day!
6) Just fyi, I don't care for the rose gold
7) Don't suggest other brands...I mean really...this is the Rolex Forum!

Let 'er rip....tell me what you think...I've considered the options...BLRO, DD40, Smurf, Daytona (no date function)...I'm just interested in what people think. Don't you guys get tired of these posts!?!

DD40 with silver dial great choice especially with silver diagonal motif. I'd go to AD and check some out along with YG Sub w sunburst blue dial perhaps. Both would be excellent options IMHO.

Maybe a Day-Date ii? If 40mm is your minimum maybe the slightly bigger Day-Date ii might be more appealing.

You've got it pegged already:

DD 40 YG w/Silver dial (deconstructed romans please--will always be 'in' in the coming years).

Sam posted earlier.

You're done.

Thanks and the dial makes this one for me.

Come to think of it for both of these.

Yup, I like it !! Clean, Classic....just out of curiosity....how much heavier is a piece like that compared to a SS Sub for example?

Sam v Ken again, I am so loving this forum right now!!!

Weight difference between a YG DD40 and Subc will be around 50-60 grams.

Dr. Tom, always super impressed by your pieces....if I had the money I'd probaby get the Playtona even though it doesn't have a date function. That said, the Smurf to me would just be too difficult to coordinate with casual and dress. The BLRO is a classic look and for those who aren't Rolex WIS, it just looks like a SS GMT...but we know different! Something is telling me my heartstrings for a DD40 are right.

I'll let the experts that own chime in on weight, but tried it on and it's VERY comfortable.

Heavier than a SS of course, but with new ceramic inserts in bracelet make it more comfortable than DDII to me.

Would make great daily IMHO.

Glad to see you going to take the plunge, my friend.

If you are going for "the one", then it has to be the Day-Date. The yellow gold model as pictured from Sam's collection with the silver Roman dial would be my first choice followed by the silver diagonal motif dual as worn by Ken if you to consider a DD 40. There may be a chance for you to still get a DD II, but dial options may be limited now.

As an alternative, the BLRO or a YG GMT would another great choice for your one and only PM watch.

So exciting. Let us know what you decide on.

Check the DD 40 threads on this Forum if you need further enabling. Lots of amazing pictures to be found there.

I'm not sure if it's a maturing of watch wearing or just a recognization of comfort....I always thought that bigger watches meant better....the 45mm Planet Ocean, the 47mm Panerai...and then I bought the 40mm GMT and everyday I come back to it. It's unobtrusive, perfect weight, sits great on the wrist....I mean, 3 years ago I would have said "No Way!".

And now I'm leaning toward stepping my game up and getting a "grail"...and to me a grail is one piece you will never abandon. A quintessential timepiece that you will cherish and hand down. Something you will wear with pride day in and day out and when you need to, you will send it to RSC and it will come back as good as new for another 10 years. And for those that know watches, they will look at it and say..."nice watch!"

Thanks Eric....I knew you'd be along shortly!! The DD II 41mms are hard to find, although I do like them.....not sure I could find the combo I like. I've considered the YG GMT, but I just don't think that's the one. I really think it's between the DD40 YG silver dial roman and the BLRO, in that order.

Go with your gut.

I think I hear the DD 40 calling your name. If not already done so, go to the AD to try them on. They are simply amazing.

Agree with my man Eric, I am missing the President bracelet more than I ever thought I would and it's a key driving force behind why I am already after a DD again.
