Should I flip my......
10 year old Explorer 1 (Ref 114270) which is in need of a full service at the RSC for an AD's last unit of a BNIB White Dial SS Daytona?
The proceeds of the Exp 1 is only gonna pay for 25% of the price of the Daytona. I bought a BNIB SubC last month. The only thing making me have an itch is I actually found a Daytona in stock after weeks of browsing the ADs. Or should I wait and search for a pre-owned Daytona? (then I won't sell my EXP 1) BTW, I love both watches. Pictures are from the internet. Last edited by kopykopy; 8 December 2015 at 06:22 PM.. Reason: attaching internet pictures |

Dude, for 25% of the watch, I'd def keep the EXP and and come up with the other 25% somewhere else. If you can't, buy preowned off of a trusted seller and keep the EXP and service it. There really isn't a better way to spend $3000 than on an Explorer.

25% off a Daytona for your Explorer seems a bad trade to me. I bet that Explorer means more to you than 25%. Get it serviced and it will be as good as new. Then get a Daytona if you want.

KEEP the Explorer!! It's my favourite Rolex, by far. One day I'll have just what you're thinking of getting rid of...

Absolutely buy it before somebody else does. I would probably try and keep your Explorer.

Agree with the others, keep the Explorer and get the Daytona when funds allow. The Explorer is also a classic, and has its own charm.

The dial is fully integrated with the universe, and therefor can not be traded...

You have a nice collection in the Explorer and the Sub. Get your Explorer serviced and figure out how to get the Daytona without having to get rid of what you have.

Thank you sirs for your valued advice. I will keep my Exp 1. If I sell it, it would not be easy to get back another piece. I would just probably buy the new Daytona now or later or wait for a pre-own piece. I think I just got a little bit enthusiastic about having "found" a daytona which is seemingly hard to come by. I am sure there will be more. The hunt is part of the fun right? cheers.

Not enough skin the game from the Explorer to finance the Daytona. Besides Explorers age so well and just like great on almost any strap the day that bracelet gives out. Better to make up the extra $3k somewhere else.

Leep the explorer unless you know you won't wear it again
