Tudor Chapter Ring Dial with SWISS-T<25

Has anyone ever seen a Tudor Chapter Ring Dial with a "SWISS-T<25" stamping at the bottom?

I have never seen one before.

So does that mean that this dial is fake?

I would like some expert opinion on this dial.

Thanks

Only seen T SWISS T in tritium designated chapter ring dials. Possibly a later service dial but I have never seen one before, the marking colour looks rather buttery yellow.

Dumb question but what is a chapter ring dial? Are they desirable?

See the circle that connects the minute markers together? That's a chapter ring. They generally came on 50's and early 60's sport watches and command a large premium over non gilt chapter ring dials

I initially thought it was fake too...

Been digging around the Internet and found something interesting...

Might be an early service dial??

Like these...

Would someone prefer a rare service Dial or the original Dial?

I'm going to say most people would prefer, if given a choice, to put original dials in their watches and just collect the rare dial variations for personal collections.

There are circumstances where the original dial is so rare or damaged, that one would prefer to put a service dial into the watch to "Complete the Project".

Goes something like this: Original Dial > Service Dial > Refinished dial > Aftermarket dial

I can't comment on the Tudor dial, however the top 5512 dial posted by Wing Zero was mine, and quite genuine. For those interested, here is a discussion regarding it.

The Tudor Sub is one of the most counterfeited Tudors there is along with the dials. Better have that watch checked again.

Although the attached photo is not very good, the aftermarket dials are out there. In the past, I've personally examined two Tudor Sub dials marked Swiss T <25 and neither was genuine. Although I do not collect Tudors, I know there are guys out there that are familiar with the known serial numbers found on these fake Subs.

I agree and that image you have is a clear fake however this dial had some items that I could determine were legit. I have almost the exact dial with t swiiss t and know others with the same dial, less the <25.

I do know the t<25 dial you mean but this is not one . Maybe WZ can post the image I gave him earlier. I am heading to Nassau for a few days and away from computer. This dial is at worst a rare service dial -95% certain pending better photos.

His statement is correct in that their are a lot of Tudor fakes, including the dial and particularly the <25 dials. This is a rare time it is legit.

This is not the same as the 738xxx fake subs

It's still important to back up statements made, especially when claiming something is fake.

Found a 7924 with this dial sold by Christies:
http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/w...=5790159&lid=1

Here are some macros for you guys. Dial is 27mm, made for earlier subs like the 7922 and 7924 before the switch to 26mm dials in 7928
