1972 McQueen Rolex 1655 Explorer II - Restoration Project

After receiving my father's 1972 Explorer II 1655 (Serial #294****), I took on the project of restoring it to its 1972 condition.

Step 1 complete - Installed a 7836 bracelet. The old bracelet and original condition of the watch are in the first photo and the most recent folows.

I still need the correct end links. I believe its a 501B or 580 that will do the trick.

There are numerous pricey steps are ahead. I need to lay hands on a Mark 1 dial and the accompanying hands. The current dial is a refinished and WAY off of the original, and the orange hand is gone, leaving only a frame.

Nevertheless, one small step has been completed to accomplish the larger goal!
