Once complimented on my Bluesy by a non-WIS friend saying he liked how it looked. None besides that as my favorite watch to wear is a way under the radar model.

When I wore Invictas I used to get comments all the time; not so much with the Rolexes. Most received was two in a day with my OP.

My hulk was mistaken for an Invicta. My Platona has never been noticed or commented on.

My wife compliments my Daytona... does that count? ;-) Seriously, I've received a couple of comments on it. One was from a guy that was maybe 20. I don't believe it's so much that people don't notice, it's just that it seems awkward...a watch is such a personal item. People comment on my car all the time, but I'm not wearing my car.

I wear my no date subC with long sleeve shirts and a 1680 red sub on a nato strap with short sleeves (since it's not as flashy). I've gotten 2 comments on my subC that people have noticed despite my wearing long sleeves and not one comment on my 1680.

Of all my watches, none has garnered any comments except for my 16710 Pepsi, which several folks have stated,"nice watch" and nothing more, and I think it was just the bright colors that caught their attention..... unless you're a WIS, I don't think you truly notice....

Don't recall the last time someone complimenting my watches. To be honest, I kinda dislike people commenting on my watches. If it's another WIS, and he/she was genuinely into watches, that would be cool. Otherwise, I don't like it so much. Once there was someone who really tried to see what make my watch was, and it irritated me quite a bit.

I've had quite a few public comments...

-sitting in a meeting with a key client who mentioned my subc in front of all my competition...awkward

-was using the bathroom at the boom boom room in NYC and the guy in stall next to me noticed my royal oak and showed me he was wearing the same watch...awkward

-walking through an autoshow a vendor at a table about 20 ft from meet starts screaming out Rolex and pointing at me, proceeded to show me his fake BLNR and some polish he was trying to sell

-a gas station attendant noticed my subc while I was checking out and mentioned he was getting the same watch for his dad.

-girls at bars: OMG is that a rolex?

I usually don't get any compliment, nor do I expect any.
Sometimes I get a nod from another Rolex owner.

Which Rolex of yours gets the most compliments?

Recieved a nice comment from my doctor and a nice convo with him. Learned that he also collects. I was wearing my 16570 polar.

Oh man that's just brutal

As for me, I've only been complimented by folks that turn out to be wearing a Rolex themselves.

The only watch I ever got a comment on was my Lange Sohne 1815 (36mm) when visiting Berlin for a conference. It was more national pride of the watch than the what I was wearing. Really made me smile, that something as simple as a watch could make some be proud that their country had made it.

Rolex, Omega, Breitling... never a word.

My wife on the other hand gets loads of nice comments from other women on her 38mm IWC Portofino (steel). I think it must stand out more and ladies notice.

Chaps

I did once receive a compliment and to be honest I was really surprised.

My wife and I popped into a pub in Oxford for a bite to eat.

Half way throught the meal, the waiter who was a young man of about 20 years just very quietly quipped, that's a lovely watch you got and promptly walked off before I could say anything.

The watch was a very under the radar 39mm Explorer and I was wearing a Harris Tweed jacket so the watch was partially covered.

That did surprise me somewhat.

Regards

Mick

No one comments on my Submariner because it is iconic and everyone knows what it is, how much it costs, and what it represents.

But boy do they notice it. That's what counts. The lack of commentary speaks more loudly than any words possibly could. And that's why I wear Rolex and only Rolex.

The only watch compliment I've ever received from a stranger was for my 1675 pepsi. I was at the grocery and another shopper said "Nice watch" to me and asked me how old it was.

I've been wearing nice watches for a long, long time. In all these years I've only ever received one compliment on any of my watches. Honestly, no one seems to notice or care......and believe me, that is absolutely fine with me!
