Never have I received a compliment from a stranger on a Rolex. Once on a rental car shuttle from the Atlanta airport the driver, who was obviously from a Carribean island, grabbed my arm as I walked by and said, "Nice Omega, Mon!" A compliment, but an awkward one. I passed it off lightly, but he got no tip from me. Cultural differences may account for the unauthorized contact. Nonetheless it was unappreciated. In another setting he might have found out about our American aversion to being grabbed by strangers in greater detail. Not to mention his informing everyone on the bus that I was wearing a nice watch.

I get quite a few comments on my Coke GMT. I think this is because I wear this particular watch with short sleeves, a lot more than I do with my DJII. Generally just the "nice watch!" variety, but every now and then it turns into more of a conversation - usually with fell Rolex owners

The Hulk gets lots of unsolicited praise, mainly from gentlemen.
The YGDD40 gets lots of attention from ladies. |

Almost never but just recently my BLNR was noticed by the guy running the line at a popular breakfast spot in town (2-3hr wait at times, yes its that good!) we had a quick chat about Rolex and how he has an old sub from his dad..... we were seated about 5 mins after that

[QUOTE=Ian Macdermott;6695744]Years ago I was in the pub with a few mates wearing a bi metal datejust when one of them spotted it and proceeded to show me his fake one. I was a bit drunk at the time and told him it was a fake He insisted it was real so I told him I had an easy way to tell. He gave me his watch and I took mine off and dropped them both in his pint of beer. Boy was he pissed when after a few minutes his " genuine Rolex " filled with beer.

My Apple watch gets commented on just about every other time I wear it.
My Explorer, three times in eighteen months, twice by colleagues who promptly showed their own Rolex, once by a colleague who genuinely likes watches in general. The rest of my family, friends, sisters, parents....not a word. Either they don't notice, don't care or are too polite to ask why I spend so much money on a watch. |

I get the usual "You got another Rolex!" from friends/family. Never really got wow nice watch from random people (other than an AD but they probably compliment anything)

I've received the most compliments on my Panerai 104. Something about that watch resonates with strangers, not sure why.

The late 80's were the peak of Rolex compliments from strangers. People actually conversed with each other then. Now they are too busy looking at their phones. I can't wait for this decade of the phone to end.

Which Rolex of yours gets the most compliments?
Funny, I have prob received 3 compliments (from strangers not friends) and most of the time I was wearing a speedy, BLNR, a sub, Daytona, and now AP RO. I received a compliment on the BLNR from a guy at the post office who claimed he had the same one, while I was dropping off a watch to ship ...I know how ironic.
In the last 2 weeks I received 2 compliments (kinda) on my AP which is surprising because I just got it. One person said "that's a weird looking watch, but I like it" and the other person asked me if that was fake at publix lol. I said no and they grabbed my wrist and really admired it. The RO 15300 is a really unique looking watch but just stunning, made me feel like I picked a good one. Most of my friends don't understand it, I have to explain the "addiction" and then a few months later they want my help. This watch thing def rubs off 😬 But in the end no one gives a s*** what watch you have on lol... That's what I've learned! Except for you guys Ofcourse 😄👍🏼 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I am a bit surprised that my YG Rolex's do not get me any comments. This RG Sky Dweller has been commented on several times. I am not sure why as with my skin tone it seems to blend in better and not a noticeable.

Over the years I had a few comments mainly from other Rolex owners who say "nice watch". However, I recently purchased an Orient bambino 3 grey dial and I've had more comments about that watch than any other. For the price it's amazing and keeps brilliant time.

I've been complimented multiple times in many different settings on my Omegas, by people who recognize the brand and model. Never once has anyone commented on my Sub.

Rolex wearer for 20 plus years - I have several - 1 comment by a stranger in that time on ss Daytona - very awkward. That's when I realized people do notice but I'd prefer they not comment. I wear what I want for me - not for others.

I had an older gentleman gave me a dirty look while wearing my Platona. He was wearing a TT SubC......
I've gotten lots of compliments on my watches, especially the YG and RG models. |

The NEXT one I buy will always bring the most compliments (I keep telling myself to justify this insatiable "hobby", LOL).
