Yet another thread about date change. Rolex Deepsea Dblue

I own a Rolex Deepsea DBlue that was purchased earlier this year.
I recently noticed that the time the date switches to the next day changes from 00:01 to 00:04.

Other than that watch keeps perfect time. Am I experiencing problems with the watch ?

So the minute hand jumps forward by three minutes when the watch changes date. Is that what you're saying?

Not sure if you're kidding or not so I'll further explain:
Some days the date changes at 00:01
some days the date changes at 00:02
Some days the date changes at 00:03
some days (like today) the date changes at 00:04

I'm thinking it's got something to do with the power reserve tho because I took it off for a couple hours today for the gym.

Mine is brand new factory fresh and changes at 12:03 each night and I am perfectly fine with it. Would not even think of sending it in for something so insignificant.

I don't think I have heard of a watch changing date at different times during different days.

I would expect it to be consistently off, not fluctuating.

I've never noticed what time my dssd changes the date all I know is that when I wake up the next day the date has been correct 100% of the time.

I would keep an eye on it, if it varies more widely I would send it in.

I guess you have a Dragos datewheel then it change date whenever it likes.

Nothing wrong with your watch, try to get to sleep before midnight and the problem is solved.

My D-Blue dose the exact same thing. Anywhere from 1min to 3min after 12:00 the date will click to the next day. I never gave it much thought whether I should take it back to the AD. Below are two examples of what we are talking about.

Mine changes at 12:01 on the nose, at least so far. I've owned it since June.

I'd mention it when it's due for regular servicing, I wouldn't be too concerned about it now.

Have to agree Jocke guys worry far too much about their watches,the date change is purely a mechanical process,it's not like a instant electronic flick of a light switch.Some can change slightly before and after the time when most all should be fast asleep, and not worrying about when the date changes..

The Date change should be consistently changing at exactly the same time each night. So if it changes at 12:03 each and every night thats fine.

When it bounces around thats when you should look at it. Thats not right.

The date can only change when the hour hand has travelled twice around the dial, and there will always be some slight gear lash in the hand stack. So its possible it could vary a minute or so either way its mechanical and not electronic.

I'm just curious, what is an acceptable range for you Padi? Is 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes early or late acceptable? If Rolex is so stringent about +/- 2 seconds with their "superlative chronometer" title why is there so much variability on the date change?

My 16613lb changes date every night at 11:58:46 (about 1 minute and 14 seconds early). I am not concerned with this as others have mentioned as long as it is consistent every night there is nothing to fret.

I have bought my 116600 february 2017 and have checked it twice now. The first time it changed at 12:02:30 and the second time at 12:01:15 I guess it's not really a problem although I mist admit I expected it to change at 12:00 exactly.

My deep blue used to do that too but now it changes at the same time everynight. Either way, doesn't bother me, why would it bother you? If the watch is keeping good time and displaying the correct date, why would u be concerned about this?

Several people are experiencing erratic date changes on their DD40s 1+ hours past midnight. If all those who thought to inquire about this decided not to worry about it, no one would have ever discovered there was a problem with several early DD40s.

Certainly over an hour after midnight is a lot different than 1-4 minutes, but still it's worth asking about for the peace of mind to know your watch is functioning properly and consistent to other examples. Just cause people ask questions doesn't mean they're worrying too much. Besides if people didn't ask questions there'd be half as much to do around here...


Btw OP every Rolex I've owned changes within the same time frame as yours.

My DSSD D-blue is about 2 weeks old. It always changes @ 00:04.
