I can't see Sub changing at Basel. Go for it. It is a fantastic watch. LV, LN, 114060 they are all fantastic watches.

I won't be of any help because although I love the Exp 1 but the Exp 2 does not stir any of my emotions whatsoever.

What in the world does how popular a watch is have to do with how much you enjoy it?
My two Rolexes at the moment are an explorer II and a sub. While I think the sub is the quintessential Rolex, I've said before nothing is more comfortable and versatile than my explorer II

I had the black Explorer 2 and felt the pull to a diver. I flipped for the SeaDweller. A few months later I missed the Explorer 2 and flipped back for it. It cost me some money, but I'm glad I did it because I now know how much I love the Explorer 2.
