I would advise against it. Saw the same watch posted at various watch forums for weeks (if not months). The fact that there is no taker is evident of the atrocious asking price, which is even above the GMt Pepsi/ Coke.
There will be others in the market. Take a trip. You can find better options in HK/ Japan or even Europe. Happy hunting! Quote:

I was waiting for my wife the other day and so happen bump into this AD and saw 14060m together with a 16610.
Its obvious to me that either they kept in safe queen or unsold pieces till now in 2017 and now able to sell at a much higher premium. Btw i am seeing a huge price difference in US market used Rolex market versus back here in Singapore. Even in this forum prices are high too. Is the asking price here a true reflective of the sale price? Some mint sets are selling above USD6k and DavidSW is asking for USD 7.4k for a NIB. That makes the one that i am eyeing at SGD 11k which is USD7.3k attractive despite the pemium price. I am planning to wear not safe queen. Any thoughts? |

TRF is one of the most expensive places to buy "hot" references. Even chrono24 is often cheaper.

Thanks for the opinions.
Am wondering the moment I wear the watch how much will it drop? I don't like safe queen. Neither do I want to loss so much if flip. |

If going through a private sale route, you'll lose more than 1K USD once you take the stickers off. You'll lose at least 2K if you sell it to a dealer. I would only buy it if you're willing to keep it for a long long time.

I would get a used one with papers. Unpolished or polished should make little difference for a "modern" 14060m (no-holes case) as you have no lug holes (i.e. no bevels to lose with polishing); and given its age, it may have been serviced/polished once or twice at most... If you go for an older 14060, then look for unpolished or lightly buffed.
Then again, 116520s sell in mint condition in S'Pore for around 15K. If you are thinking option 1, you are not that far away from 15K. |

Anyway, note there is also an NOS 14060m on this forum's sales section that is listed at an even higher price than the OP's potential watch. If I was in the market, I'd buy one. It's a classic, and there is something very special about an NOS watch that's no longer in production. Peeling stickers and being the watch's original owner is a very nice feeling. It's not necessarily a wise financial move, but more about how much you love watches, especially this classic Sub. |

$7300 US is a v good price for a stickered 16610ln from AD. They go privately for about 7k and 10k for your NOS 16610lv. If it's a keeper I'm paying the $ for the best example I can find. That being said...I don't keep many watches for long. Perhaps you are different ?

It's a 14060m not 16610.

That's completely subjective. It depends on how much you value being the watch's original owner and peeling off the stickers. You should buy it if you love the reference and love buying NOS watches, not because of investment considerations.
I don't think you'd be able to find an NOS and stickered 14060M for much less. Based on that criterion alone, I'd say, yes, it's a good price. |

As much as I love the 14060M, BNIB prices are IMHO(!) overrated.
Take a BNIB SubC ND or even better (because of date)116610 and wear it in happiness.

Based on prices for reputable resellers for used late model 14060m's, I actually think it is not an outrageous price (and I bet you could negotiate it down if you came in with cash in hand). Of course, you can get one 'almost' like (late model) new at a reseller like David SW for $1000+ less, but for some there is a difficult-to-quantify value in being the first owner and taking off the stickers and having each scratch be your own. If you don't care about that, you can get a great condition late model from a reputable reseller for around $6,000 with box and papers, and even less from random people in the sales forums. Older models with box and papers are around $4500-$5000 USD in the forums, but those have either been polished or will show some scratches.
I got my 14060m from 2002 with box and papers (not overly polished, but it has scratches) for under $5,000, but the scratches in no way bother me as they are the type of scratches I'd put on myself anyway. I would rather have scratches than an over-polished gem. |
