Hello from Shanghai

Hi there,

I've hopefully become a member of the Rolex family. I say this as my better half bought me a 16610LV. It didn't come with any paperwork but with an CTI document to proof its authenticity.

I'm hoping it is the real deal (as she paid the going rate for it) but if the experts on here wouldn't mind casting an eye over the photos and passing comment I'd appreciate it.

The model is an M series with the 92350 strap. Both the rehaut and case numbers match. Everything seems ok - the date changes on the second rotation at 12 forward and backwards at 5.30 ish.

The bezel has 120 clicks for a full rotation.

One thing that troubles me is the marking between the lugs on the ORIG ROLEX DESIGN. Is this something I should be concerned about?

All help greatly appreciated!!!

Cheers

Don't panic that this thread has been moved to the Watchout section. I just put it here because you will get more answers/opinions than in the New Members section.

OK
Date should change every 2nd rotation past 12.00 O clock
1st time is mid day (no date change) 2nd time midnight (date should change).
If it changes at 5.30 - some issue!! Either fake or needs a repair!

Its a "M" serial number that is October 2007 - Oct 2008 - I would NOT expect to see a serial number between lugs anymore, It should just be on the rehaut alone by Oct 2007!!!

Based on serial number and date my feeling is pointing to fake!

The photos are not good enough between lugs to discern authenticity but do look very grainy??.

Thanks for the feedback Gladiator -

The date changes ever second revolution at the 12oclock position when the date is increased.

The date is decreased when wound backwards on the second revolution at the 5.30 position. I thought that this is a rolex feature and can be difficult to fake.

I believe the serial Number on case at 6 O'clock was an M feature only disappearing with serial numbers.

Maybe I'm way off - please bare in mind I am a newbie to Rolex.

Most M serial I have seen are between lugs and on rehaut. This does not mean fake.

Have you?
From my side by October 2007 only on rehaut.

Can you post a 2007 with both? Can you post a 2008 with both?

I never said it was fake, only my "suspicion" based on the facts I have and can see.

Note OP has now explained the date changing at 5.30. It changes at 12.00

There's plenty of evidence of the joint rehaut & case engraving going well into 2008.

Thanks for that Old Expat Beast! And thanks for the response guys!

Well today I wanted to see what was inside the case so I took the watch to a specialist service centre in Shanghai. They service all types but had a number of Rolexes in for maintenance.

The guy got the case off, my girlfriend asked if it was a real rolex or a fake. The head technician confirmed it was real - the mechanism needs a good cleaning but in his option its the real deal.

So I took it to two nearby Rolex ADs both never questioned its authenticity.

I guess the only true way to determine everything is correct is to send it to Rolex for a service but I'm start to feel much happier about my LV now...

Excellent.
As I stated, based on what I saw, it was "pointing" to fake.
