Flaw on dial?
I just noticed I have a smallspot on the dial of my explorer its shiny almost like a chip of paint fell off. It just appeared recently. Is this something I should send the watch into RSC for? It's pretty minor but whenever I look at my watch my eyes get drawn to it.

I would take it to a RSC and have them check it out
That would really be an issue for me.

Can it not wait until it's due a service? It's almost microscopic and you won't see it for 2 hours a day at least.. Not that I disagree with your feelings on it - you should demand perfection from your Rolex, and I know it would bug me.. just probably not enough to make me do something about it prior to a scheduled service.
That said, I don't think it would need to go off to an RSC - I don't know how things are in Palm Beach, but in the UK there are ADs who have a workshop baked-in that can perform minor Rolex surgery while-u-wait. |

Is there another one at the top (just before the 57 minute marker)?
And a tiny one just after the 7 minute marker? Probably a very quick and easy fix by a competent watchmaker or RSC

That will annoy the hell out of me. Once you see a flaw you can never un-see it.
Take it to RSC. This will prevent you from enjoying your watch. |

While I don't think that it will hurt anything that would bug me, I'd get it taken care of. That being said there's stories here where a watch went in for a simple fix like this and came back scratched after being "fixed", keep us posted please.

Most likely a Quality Control issue(This things happen you know )You are entitled to a new replacement watch nothing more nothing less since you paid a premium for it.The watch as the guys have pointed out must be referred back to RSC for immediate action.
If it's any consolation to you Sir,I'll put your mind at ease by telling you a true incident that happen on the Omega forum many moons ago. The photo shown below is an Omega PO 600 Cal 8500 belonging to a member that goes by the avatar name of @rahul718 who had a similar issue with the dust particle under the crystal. There was much discussion on the OF and Rahul forwarded his complaints to the Swatch Group Omega Rep.Meanwhile he also brought the watch to the Omega boutique at 5th Avenue and surprisingly the problem was resolved 11 days later.A delighted Rahul was informed that he could collect his PO at his convenience. End of Story ? Nope! Rahul had forgotten all about the complaint he made to the Swatch Group Rep who inadvertently email-ed the problem back to Omega HQ in Bienne.Guess What ?An immediate flawless PO 8500 replacement was approved and presented to Rahul via the OB in 5th Avenue few weeks later. THE END ! # Edit : I'm unclear whether Rahul took his old watch back or accepted the new replacement but either way it showed Omega's Stellar Customer Service |

^ Better than Rolex customer service. I've never heard of Rolex HQ in Geneva sending a brand new watch to a customer after an issue or qc flaw.
I've been looking at Omega's lately |

I whinge about it probably more than I should, since I have no problems with my Rolex - but it does niggle me that barring turning up at an RSC or writing them an actual letter, there is no way to contact or be looked after by Rolex. Omega have a customer service portal where you can complain at them, ask them stupid questions about watch functions, request merchandise.. whatever; plus they're active on social media. Rolex seem to just purely make their watches, service their watches, market their watches and leave ADs (and TRF!) to deal with absolutely everything else. It's fair enough I guess - I need to stop getting worked up about it Sorry OP for being off topic. Seems most people think you should get it sorted, so good luck - hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction pal |

And their direct customer service is really good - I got a technical response from one of their watchmakers about how certain parts of my Planet Ocean Chronograph movement worked - and it wasn't copy and pasted either, it was clearly someone taking the time out to address me personally. Omega also helped me out once by getting the actual COSC certificate for my first ever Omega watch - even covering the €50 cost themselves. Really, they are a good bunch. |

I think hearing the good customer service from Omega just pushed me over the edge. I'm going to get the blue ceramic PO 43.5mm as my next watch now. Been looking but I think I will jump now. |

If you send it in, have them look at the scratch on the minute hand.

Either way, this is where I am glad my AD has in house Rolex techs...having to send out would make me pause, but pretty sure they'd clear up the issue quickly. |

I had them fix a cyclops that was about 2 degrees out. On that basis, I can't tell you not to get it sorted.....

Get it sorted it will bug the hell out of you. With the overall size and dimensions of the watch, its like having a 1cm circle of bad paint on your new car.

I would not be able to live with that, it would annoy me to no end. If under warranty, send it in to RSC. If not under warranty, perhaps have a local rolex repair shop look at it (lower cost than RSC?)

I think i can see three holidays on the black dial, maybe thinner residue from the original pad print that has perished.

Are you sure it's not a spec of lume that flaked off? It could be as easy as getting a quick cleaning with compressed air. But either way - chip or dust mote, I'd HAVE to get it fixed.

I had a couple of issues with my Explorer MK2 dial as well. It had some sort of spec or debris on the metal part of the 2 o'clock marker and the E in Rolex had some extra ink on the back of it. Took it to the the Toronto RSC to have it taken care of, they initially cleaned of the debris on the the 2 o'clock marker and said if I'm really uncomfortable with the E they can switch the dial for me. After taking it home i noticed there was still leftovers on the 2 o'clock marker and the E still bothered me. Dropped it in on a Tuesday and on Friday the same week they called saying its ready for pick up. The print and markers are perfect but i noticed very, VERY, minor specs here and there. like 7 - 8 in total. But its very difficult to see and I'm totally fine with it.
My advice is, get it fixed. but don't expect it to be 100% perfect. nothing in life is. once you accept that you'll learn to love and appreciate your watch more. You have a wonderful timepiece, don't let these small issues take that away from you. |

I would get it fixed, as I don't like my watches to have those defects in them. I am not from the camp that says "you should accept it as it is".
