First PM Rolex which one?

Curious I'm always looking at the WG PM pieces and trying to decide would I go with the Sub 116619LB or the GMT 116719BLRO ? For those that don't already own one which would you choose?

Tough choice. But, at this moment BLRO has a slight edge for me.

BLRO .... The flat smurf blue doesn't do it for me ...
Now if it were a sunburst blue dial against the WG
that would be a different story ...

I love WG as well but went for a classic Day Date 18239 instead as my first (and only, so far) watch:

From the 2 you are asling would probably pick BLRO due to slightly smaller lugs

The blue on the Sub makes it the easy choice in my book!

IMHO:

As of now, 3 white gold model are simply awesome and so beautiful to look at. You can't go wrong with either one of the trio. If I win the lottery, I will get all 3 of them.

116619LB Submariner Ceramic Date
116710BLRO GMT Master II Ceramic

And lastly, I am suggesting is this:

116509-0071 Daytona with a blue dial. (Picture is stolen from their official website)

In my part of the world, among the three, the most costly is the GMTII, Daytona and then SubC. Small difference though.

I actually am not a fan of WG as a rule, however, if I was to ever get WG it would be one of these two. They are both amazing. I would choose the BLRO by a slim, slim margin.

The BLRO is a very attractive piece. I would love to pair it with my BLNR.

Having experienced both......I love the blue of the smurf, was very underwhelmed by the colors of the bezel on the blro. I'd choose smurf all day. That said...If I'm buying gold right now...it's yellow.

I got the Sub first as it took time for the BLRO colors to grow on me. I also like the glidelock that much more especially with PM. Any PM watch is a great buy. Can't find a better value for an all gold watch anywhere else.

sub, glidelock beats dual time zone for me. plus the bezel on the pepsi isnt the best coloration imo.

I agree with both points with a caveat about the colors on the BLRO. When compared to the original Pepsi, absolutely, you're right. However if looked at from the perspective that it's an entirely different watch then it's not so bad.

You would be making a huge mistake by not opting for the simply amazing 116619LB. I've had every variation of Rolex PM and IMHO this one is stunning. The undercover aspect of the white gold is nice. I don't like people staring at my watch. Only a true Rolex fan knows what I have on my wrist.

im not saying it is bad by any means. you cant go wrong with either watch. however i prefer a brighter red hue than the darker hue on this model.

Agreed. That would have been better. Even nicer would have been a WG Coke and Rolex wouldn't have had to compromise on the color. They could have made it nearly identical to the original.

perhaps saved for a platinum gmt.

could be in 2 years or 7, or never. 1954 introduction (65th or 70th anniversary).

Between these two, BLRO for sure. To my eyes, more special.

But, I'd also be sorely tempted by the blue dial Daytona above or DD40 with anniversary olive dial.

If it has to be a PM Sub, then YG blue or black.

Which original? Aren't the BLRO colors pretty close to the original bakelite inserts?

I'll be giving up all my GMTs for a platinum version, if it happens.

If I'm spending your money I'm going for the smurf. BLROis cool, but just love the blue dial and bezel of the smurf.

I stand corrected. Yes, the Bakelite versions are pretty similar to the BLRO. I was thinking of the more common aluminum bezels with their distintive ruby red and sapphire blue colors.

I would be very happy with either as a first WG piece. Glidelock is nice for a watch that is heavy PM, may be a small perk.
