Why 37mm Yatchmaster so UNPOPULAR?

I do think the proportions are part of the problem. Look at the 36mm Time-O-Graph. Looks great. The Yachtmaster is practically that but the large bezel and small dial make it seem smaller. I also think the 18mm bracelet doesn't help. If it was on a 20mm band it would look different.

Agree. It’s not so much the size, as it is the size of that watch. I’m not sure why any male would opt for the 37 instead of the 40.

I like the yachtmaster well enough, but agree that it is a bit of a red headed step child to the sub.

YM is somewhat of a girly watch to be sure..esp in smaller sizes..
And small w/ thick bezel...making the dial even smaller..
So if you are a guy lookin to get laid...
Not exactly the recipe for success...lol..
Unless you are Charlie Sheen..with his 35mm...
But that said..
I have a 7" wrist and luv em..esp the 35mm size..
Even the 37mm seemed too heavy for me..PT is heavy..and the 40 for me..fogetaboutit!
Advantages..
Fewer people are in the market..and they are slow sellers..so...you can actually get good deals on em..
And who doesn't want to own platinum... for a discount..
And once you get past the smaller size..and feel the lightweight..
You may be sold..

I love the YM. My only concern is how the bezel holds up. It seems to be not only a scratch magnet but also if you have any oil on your hands, (hand lotion especially), it really stains.

Size of watch is not only dependent on wrist size , body size plays a big role .

6ft & over 200lb a 36/37mm just comes off as too small, Even with a small to avg wrist

The proportions of the YM throw visual off some . Bezel large / Dial small watch appears smaller than it is

That said I'm loving the 40mm , case isn't maxi style ,it's not as high off wrist , lugs jus melt into bracelet. The size is really Perfect for me .

I'd have to get around the "bling " factor ! YM 40mm is looking better each time I look at it

Wondering if the newest iteration is worth pursuing.

It cleans just like any other watch. Your other concern is valid if you're used to ceramic.

Another parent at my kid's school has both a blue dial and Pt dial YM, which I think are both 37mm. Looks OK to me but of course it depends on wrist size.

I would say that if you tried on a 40mm and felt it was too big, then go for the 37mm YM. BUT if you can wear the 40mm, then buy the 40mm. the 37mm is probably for a person who wants the 40mm but it just doesnt feel right on the wrist.

now the 36mm DJ, is the perfect size DJ, simple as that. 36mm was the standard for 50+ years and IMO should still be.

You cannot go wrong with the 36mm DJ, but you CAN go wrong with the YM 37mm. Be careful of the comparison because you dont want to realize the 37mm is an "odd" size after the fact. I would stear clear of the 37mm, and go with the safer 36mm DJ.

Agree 100%. The bezel is just right on a 40 but on the smaller size it just looks off.

I own a gold sub and am happy sinking that much money into watch as a daily. I would not touch a yachtmaster in steel or gold. That weird bezel is hideous and ruins the watch. Ugliest piece in Rolex's lineup IMO.

I don't think I'm alone on the bezel. The watch seems fairly polarizing.

The sub and the yachtmaster are in entirely different leagues.

Really? The platinum YM bezel is quite durable....im curious to see what your seeing.....are you referring to the gold or platinum bezels?

For the oil? It has the same inner texture as a Sub and GMT...just more surface area. And the oil can easily be wiped clean from any model...the YM just shows it a bit more.

I think it's because some believe that 36-38mm watches are not "manly" enough.

But I've seen some really nice looking DJ36 on here, so pretty sure a YM37 would look nice on a smaller wrist too.

Yeah - Rolex designed the watch with the wrong priorities. They should have enlarged the lug width and downsized the bezel instead !

I bought the 37mm over the 40mm. I do have small wrists (6 inch). I could pull off the 40mm, but the 37mm felt like it belonged on my wrist. I have other 40-41mm watches, but the 37mm is by far the most comfortable. Most vintage watches are closer to the 37mm in proportions, and no one seems to take issue with wearing those.

Statuswan -- great looking watch that looks extremely proportionate on your wrist. I agree with the adage so often posted here: "get what speaks/sings to you," and for that reason, respect your choice.

There's a man I work with at the hospital who's a super-hip 63yr old. He's 5'5" and fit with very skinny wrists. He rocks a TT blue dial and YG/SS Yachtmaster that's no longer in production. I sometimes wear my 2018 Bluesy and one day when we passed each other in the hall I told him how much I liked his watch. He said he liked mine, too, and had considered it long ago, but it looked ridiculous (his word) on him, so he chose the YM. He then tried on my watch to show me, and he was right. Conversely, his looked ridiculously small on my wrist.

I respect someone who buys what properly fits them as opposed to what's hot or trendy. And one thing I noticed about his that I liked...he wears it so often and it's so scuffed-up with scratches, that it looks cool AF. I like a "worn" look on a TT and of all my Rolex, I baby my Bluesy the least because I want that look, too.
