Daytona OF

Would love to hear the group's perspective here:

Option 1) Buy a Daytona YG OF Pikachu/YML in the grey market for roughly $41-43K.

Option 2) Proceed with Option 1 + sell my AP 15500 Black Dial for $32-33K to help offset the cost.

I love my RO a lot, but often times find myself wearing my Hulk more. I did get my RO directly from an AD so there's a sentimental aspect to the watch due to how difficult it is to acquire one and was the watch I wore on my wedding day. But if and when I'm able to get the Daytona, I envision myself wearing that and the Hulk more than I would the AP. My dilemma is do I hold onto a watch that would probably get worn the least or sell it and have an extra $30K to invest or play with.

Thanks!

Option 3. Trade in AP towards 116518. You might be able to get the Daytona for closer to 40k.

It’s a tough situation to be in…. I believe you will wear the 518 more, as it’s more comfortable. But at the same time, the 518 in YG is a flashy watch, which itself will limit the opportunities you have to wear it. The SS RO is a great watch to have though, and coupled with the fact that you got it from AP, I think it’s better to keep it than trading it for a piece from the grey market. If both were grey market purchases, I may consider trading but I will never advocate trading an AD gotten piece for something on the secondary market.

Thank you…all very valid points. The fact I was fortunate enough to get both the Hulk and RO from an AD makes it very difficult to part ways with it.

I would not swap any RO for any Daytona.

I would not trade my RO unless it was towards a next level RO

I’m in the same boat. I got a RO from the AP Boutique and have a good relationship with them. I like the RO, but I don’t wear it. It’s just too flashy for me.

I hold on to RO based on this logic: I can buy anything on the grey market at any time. But if I sell the RO, I will never get another RO from a boutique with me as first owner. So I hold in to it, and it sits in a drawer.

My same thoughts. Typically wear it on special occasions. All this feedback validates holding onto it and my goal is to pass down my collection to my son one day.

Don't sell the RO if it was from an AD. If they find out, your done with the brand at retail.

I wouldn’t sell a watch “I love a lot”

Save for the next

That one is easy. No way do you sell that RO, and I’m not even an AP fan.

Never trade a watch you love. Not to mention, the AP sounds like it has some sentiment with it. I think you'll regret letting that one go.

I would also not sell the AP if you love it. The 116518 is terrific though, keep us posted!
