Slim picking for the little guy!

My wrist isn't big at all. I currently have a GMT II now and the 40mm is just right. I have tried on the Explorer II and can pull it off. So a 42 is my limit and at that size, there are limited choices.

Love everything about the 233 and you know who is to blame for that! To those who love the 233 - what would be a good choice for a 42mm? The 392?

Thanks!

sounds like you could handle a 44 no problem. i would look to the 233 or a bettarini case luminor (000, 111, 510, etc), or, if 42, look at the 512 or 337 (if 312 is too big, then the 392 may feel too big, too, since it sits high on the wrist).

best bet is to try a bunch on, though.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely take a look at a few. I will have to seek out an AD to try them out.

I've got a small 6.5" wrist and think the 233 works just fine on me. Heck I now think 47mm is my threshold... Can't bring myself to try the 60mm Egiziano... Yet.

47mm would be pretty sick!

I don't know my size but I think two links were taken out when I was sized. Here is a photo of the watch on my wrist. I think it's a good size watch for me.

Based on upon how the GMT sits...I think you be OK with the 000/005/111/112/510 case...
good luck in your hunt...

233 case fits smaller than others Panerai offers. Whatever you choose, 44mm should be OK.

You guys got me excited about the possibility of wearing the 233 well...I just found an AD nearby. I will be doing a recon next week and report back!

I have extremely small wrists as well - I'm 6' 1" and 135 lbs.

I picked up a 512 for my daily watch and it's been fantastic. The P.999 movement is so slim - the smallest movement to date by OP - and the 42mm case size is perfect. I notice it no more than my GMTIIc. 512 ftw...

Mike you gota work your way up... start with the 52mm 300 and once that becomes your new threshold...

That's your best bet! I got to try everything before buying - it's the only way when plunking out that much hard-earned, imho Should the 233 still feel too large, then I have to say that PAMs with the P.999 are pretty cool and I think would also be worth your while; unfortunately, finding one to try on is going to be a lot harder... The 512 is probably the nicest (bitpshr's obviously got good taste ) You can also get the classic 1950 look with the 392 or 535 but these are powered by the P.9000 auto mvmt (not that this is a bad thing, but like most autos, the watch will sit higher on the wrist). You could also go down to 40mm (the 048 Luminor for example) but frankly-speaking, a Panerai is supposed to be oversized...

Good luck and (naturally) I hope the 233 is perfect for you too

My 233 sits lower on my wrist than I originally thought it would. You should be fine, since you are going to the AD, you will see for yourself.

Agree with the others, 44mm would be fine. I have the same Rolex as you. The case wears a lot bigger than 40mm. At the end of the day what's a few millimeters between friends

44 is the way to go. Then down the track you'll catch yourself thinking about 47!

Beautiful NE weather today and I got a chance to spend 30 mins at the AD trying on some nice watches. I tried on different sizes from 40 to 45mm watches. This trip was very informative and I learned a lot about what I like.

Size:
40mm - I thought this would be just golden for me but I found it to a bit small...like certain things are out of proportion.
45mm - I felt overwhelmed by the sheer size!
44mm 1940 case - Not bad at all with thin profile (I can pull if off)
44mm 1950 case - Just felt as though I could pull it off still.
42mm 1950 case - We have a winner!!! Just looks great on my wrist.

The 523 really stood out to me. The crisp white dial with the brown leather strap is such an awesome combo. Of course, I tried on the 392 but couldn't find a 233.

Here is what I like:
42mm
Clear back case
1950 case
White dial as much as black dial (I am leaning toward white dial as it would provide a nice contrast to my black GMT II.)

Thanks everyone for the info!
