In my experience, the blue sky dweller SS (jubilee) is less likely to draw attention when travelling abroad.

It is slightly more under the radar than a royal oak I'd say.

The Skydweller, being a newer model, likely would not be recognize as a Rolex by more people vs the GMT.

If you expand beyond those two, the original Explorer II (ie. the 1655, has a truly unique dial + no Mercedes hands) and Milgauss (no Mercedes hands non-distinctive dial) would be 2sports models that most people would not recognize as a Rolex.

It really depends on where you are traveling and what activities you will be doing. E.g., Planes, Trains and Automobiles across South America is a different risk profile than a private jet to a waiting SUV in Switzerland. Everything in between, use common sense.

Thanks. And beautiful watch.

If you want to get robbed by someone young and enthusiastic, who's new to the game and only got involved with robbing watches during the recent hype, then wear the GMT. But you won't get that luxury mugging-experience. It'll be quick, fumbling, and a little ... tacky. It's sure to leave a nasty taste in your mouth.

If you want the genuine thing, go with the Sky Dweller. Your personal mugger will be a slightly older gentlemen with many years of relieving people of their time-pieces. He'll appreciate your Rolex for what it is: it'll hit eBay before you hit the concrete. Your mugging will be effortless and suave. You'll wake feeling refreshed, lighter-of-wrist and ready for the day ahead.
Clever . . . but backwards. The older larcenist would be far more familiar with the Pepsi since it debuted in 1954, nearly eight decades passing for him to covet the watch. In contrast, the Sky-Dweller birthed in 2012, glittering like a fluted rattle to the neophyte malefactor.

Thank you. You realize the second time-zone function is one of the purposes of the watch (for traveling). The EXP II is such a great watch. I would love to have one some day.

BLRO on a Jubilee is like the flashing red and blue lights on a police car. Screams attention. Every local might not know what it is, but every thief does.

If you're in an area that is risky, I wouldn't bring it along. "Disposable" Timex for me.

On my last trip to Central America, my water-resistant throw away Timex got so much moisture inside just from the ambient air that it started beeping as if the invisible man was randomly pressing buttons. Kept me up all night. It was the only watch I purposely left behind in a foreign country...

The red and blue are pretty muted in real life.

The jubilee flashes like bass bait though.

Nothing on a Jubilee is under the radar. Even someone who knows nothing about watches will have their attention drawn by the beautiful, twinkling bracelet unless your watch is under a sleeve. If you don't want to attract attention, keep it covered up or don't wear it.

The best under-the-radar Rolex is a Tudor

No Rolex is under the radar when it comes to traveling.

You're not... I live in a place where a Rolex is not an option most of the time.

A Casio "CasiOak" and a G-Steel G-Shock are ALWAYS an option.

Both are large and colorful, and will draw attention. Want to stay under the radar? an OP or Explorer is best...

We like to kid ourselves here which watches are under the radar. None of the Rolex watches are under the radar, and for sure, neither of the two you're asking about.

If I was traveling, and needed a secondary time zone watch, I'd probably wear my Tudor Pepsi on leather...but I don't kid myself that it's "under the radar." Yeah, it's under the radar here on TRF with eye popping watches everywhere you turn, but in the real world? Well that's another story. It's a damn nice watch. Heck, you think people wouldn't rob you for something that "only" cost a couple thousand? Do you think they'd take it off your wrist and go, "oh, my bad. It's only a Tudor? Here, you can have it back."

My thought would be it would hold up to the rigors of travel better and if it didn't...it wouldn't break the bank to replace it.

Those two will definitely stand out. Can't think of any Rolex that is really under the radar. Maybe an Exp 1 or OP? Or perhaps Cellini?

I spot any Rolex from across the room.
Certainly the people you don’t want to notice can do the same

To regular people All watches are under radar. I feel rolexs or luxury watches are only noticed by other watch people, gold diggers and criminals. 99% people really don't care.

this is relatively under the radar, but still can be identified by someone who knows what to look for. For the most part, I think thieves are mostly looking for the more easily identified rolexes (daytonas, subs, PM, TT - anything that has easy bling to it - which anything on a jubilee has). Personally, I just don;t go where the risk is elevated (either due to location and/or time of night)

IMHO, there is no such thing as an under the radar Rolex.

Under Radar Rolex?

EXP I and EXP II are not under the radar. OPs aren’t either. But I suppose there are different degrees of “under the radar.”

Nothing Rolex produces is 'under the radar', especially a Pepsi or SkyD.

Pieces without a cyclops are a little more subtle, but most are still instantly recognizable to those with an interest - or those with nefarious intent.

Obviously everyone has different views on the subject. I'm the same, I like to travel wearing one good watch

It’s how I feel, and that’s why I started the thread. I won’t buy a watch and not wear it. I appreciate the other opinions, but I want a second
time-zone and a Rolex. Just want to be prudent in my selection and get feedback first. Thanks.
