Consensus is that the red Paul Newmans Antiquorum sold in '03 are fake/redone, right?

Just checking, is the consensus that these are fake/redone dials? Antiquorum said both watches were "accompanied by a recent Rolex certificate of overhaul" and the one with black subdials also had a "letter of authentification."

Antiquorum, around the same time, also sold some obvious fantasy fakes such as the "Rolex 1690" and "Tudor 7206" so clearly they've sold misrepresented stuff for big money before.

I would venture to guess in the possession of the person that paid over $300,000 for it?

So the watches were genuine?

Don’t know.
Just saying that if there is a letter that was available at time of auction, the buyer would likely have it, not the OP.

Maybe they were just rejected prototype Singer dials. In '03 the ol' "stick a rejected prototype from a dial supplier into a period-correct watch for big $$$" schtick probably wasn't as well-known then
