Here, a few shots of a mint, full set Tritium 18038 factory diamond-set example from 1978, which I had a brief affair with for about a year or so:

I liked it a lot with swim-shorts!

I love that combo. Choco with Baguettes. I should have got the Baguettes as well I think. Might have to swap for a Baguette dial when its service time on mine.

A friend referred me to his AD and because of his purchase history he was able to get the price down to just about 25% off of retail. The AD had to order it and they told me it could take up to 4 months but I got it in 3 weeks!

Yes, a win win win. A win for my friend who adds to his purchase history, a win for his AD to sell a DD, and a win for me to get an amazing watch at a great price. The only loss are for my two ADs who didn’t want to budge on their price.

I am beyond thrilled to share this beauty- L series 18238 from 1989, in like new seemingly unworn condition. Complete with box/papers. A true barn find, if you will.

I’ve been searching for the right Day-Date for quite some time and was lucky enough to find this example locally. I most appreciate the rosy, subdued hue the gold has taken on after 30+ years untouched. That and the crispy lugs and bracelet edges. Feeling fortunate to give this time capsule the wrist time it deserves!

Cheers all!

I’ve wanted to add THIS watch to THIS thread for 3 years. I saw it on a good friend’s wrist (he knows who he is!) at the Vegas GTG in 2017, and since then, I’ve wanted it. I searched, I gave up. I found one, but it didn’t have the rehaut, the fat buckle, and it wasn’t in a condition that worked for me. I tried the platinum DD40, and as beautiful as it is, it didn’t stick.

This arrived today, and all I can say is, “WOW!” I’m over the moon. This one is NOS, absolutely perfect. My name is on the card, dated yesterday! I feel my DD journey is officially complete.

Love it!! Does that mean this watch is still in production? I was under the impression that they don’t make 36 in platinum anymore and was pretty disappointed.

Thirty six mm, complete, are getting harder to find. Especially a complete set and in good condition.

Congrats and welcome to the club. This is by far one of the nicest dials ever to grace a Day Date

Agreed, it’s getting hard to find platinum DD36 in top condition.
