That would be my choice too - less flashy and much more unique!

Congrats and enjoy!

I must admit I had concerns about contrast and visibility as I have serval Daytona’s and at my age, my eyes are not what they were. The Daytonas are a tad aggravating in my not being able to easily telling time, but I do so love the Daytona that I deal with it I am extremely happy to report that I have zero issues of that nature with this beauty. The hands are easily pick up and I have no issue telling time both with my glasses on or off. So scratch that off the concern. I’ve spent the day wearing it (picked it up around noon). I’m in love. Every new Rolex purchase has a certain degree of ball tingle with it; but like so many relationships they fade over time. Not this one. I’m mesmerized by it. I shine a light on it from different angles and see so many different patterns each time. And then there is the knowledge that my watch dial came from outer space. I mean, That’s just cool. I did some digging and there are some good article about where the asteroid cane from that is being used for these, and that they are running out. For anyone that has the chance, ability and resources should the opportunity come up, buy one. You will not be disappointed! I’m fortunate that I’ve assembled an extensive Rolex collection over the years covering many different flavors and models. This has been my one true grail. Like finding the perfect mate. I simply love it. And best of all. I paid sticker from an AD, not grey. I could sell tomorrow for a cool and quick $20 large. Not a chance. This one is THE one for me.

Tough choice!

Middle age me today, would lean towards the Pepsi meteorite GMT. I think this will be a limited run/rare watch.

20 years ago, it'll be the Gold Green dial daytona. This is a sexy watch. total chick magnet...LOL

I had the Green Daytona and just didn't get on with it. The weight was great, what with it being gold. But the dial just didn't do it for me unless in direct sunlight. Any other times it just looked black or just dark grass green.

The metorite is my grail... so do Meteorite dial GMT in a heartbeat. If you needed a daily, then get a SS Daytona if it's a Daytona itch you need to scratch.

I'd call it the "Superman" FWIW

Congratulations! Beautiful watches. I’m trying to source a meteorite myself. I think I’m onto one, but only time will tell. Your pictures make that watch look well worth the time spent waiting.

How long did it take from deposit to delivery if you don’t mind asking.

Simplee

That’s the best part of my story; of my hunt and recent acquisition. I started this thread when I received a call from my AD about two months ago informing me that they were now (then) taking deposits from certain customers for special watches but without a guarantee as to delivery date. I was then torn between putting a deposit down on either the white gold meteorite GMT or the ‘GreenTona’ as someone above called it. (I eventually placed the deposit on the Meteorite and one drunk late night thereafter texted my AD and also placed a deposit on the GreenTona). But, in an amazing plot twist my GMT Meteorite has nothing to do with the deposits!

I have been on the hunt for a long time for the meteorite and refused to buy it from a grey. Long before ‘the deposits’, back in January-ish I was up late and reading about different watches when I came across an article about the Rolex GMT Meteorite. That article got me going and I wrote a pleasant professional sounding email to every Rolex AD I could locate, nationally, asking about this specific watch and letting them know I was interested. Last week I’m at work and the phone rings. It’s a salesman from an unknown AD who tells me he got my email in January, had kept it, and asked if I was still interested because Rolex had just informed him that Rolex was shipping one to his store some time within the next two weeks. (I didn’t even remember sending the emails! After the call I went back into my phone and found all the emails from that night). I quickly called my normal AD, confirmed I could get my deposits returned (yes I could) and then called back this new guy and said ‘heck yes’.
So, 8 months after my late night email blast, and about a week after the call, the WG-GMT Meteorite dial is now mine.

Wow,
That is an awesome story! I was hoping that you sourced it from the AD with the “newer wait times” mentioned on your original post in this thread. I was able to put a deposit on one recently at a AD I have purchased numerous watches from and was curious if I should expect 3-6 months or 3 years.

None the less that is an cool story.

How far away was the AD from your home town if you don’t mind sharing. A few AD has told me that they only sell to their “local” clients. I had an AD in a small town where I grew up and purchased from (parents still live in this town) that offered me a BLNR when I called. Originally they told me nope none in stock, but after my call she cross referenced my phone number to my account and told me to come in and take the BLNR off their hands, but when I explained I couldn’t be there during the week, and the weekend would be fine or ship it to me she said we won’t ship and you have your name on it for 24 hrs. If you don’t come you can’t have it anymore. So in short I’m curious if I should even reach out to other AD’s with where I travel to or have family in.
