How hard is it to get a 114060 in the NYC area?

I just put in my “orders” for an OP39 with the Red Grape but I’m starting to think I may want the 114060 first. How hard is it to get from an AD? Help me with my first Rolex lol.

But they wanna charge me shipping to NJ =(

Caller a few AD's, you may get lucky. My AD just got a sub in the other day that wasn't spoken for and gave it to someone who reached out to him from the forum 2 weeks ago.

Just go into your AD and talk watches for a while, don't even mention that you're in the market for anything specific the first few times you go in. Make your local AD an outlet for you to talk watches with someone who, unlike your wife, actually cares about what you're talking about (speaking from experience).If you show them you are a real enthusiast and not just another guy off of the street who heard the sports models are hot and wants one, it goes a long way.

Once they know you are for real, they'll ask if you have something in mind and thats when you tell them you're on the hunt. I've had every associate at my local store take my name for "the list" and I never heard from any of them, after a year and a half of asking and being rejected. Once I went in with this approach and spoke to a guy I had never met, the SA told me he could get me one in 2-4 weeks.

yeah, first watch from them - no prior relationship.

I think I pooped in there back in January on a very cold day, so was more to warm up from the cold. I got into a convo with the Rolex rep and gave him my card. TBH, I actually forgot all about this until they called earlier this afternoon LOL.

My SO tried to get me a 114060 and was told to buy a Patek and they'll bundle it.

Others said anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.

If you're lucky you'll get one <6 months, and when you're a first time buyer it really is about luck/demand still.

I havent seen a sub at an Ad in nyc for at least 3 yrs.

Similar experience inquiring another watch. SA said if I buy a diamond she will "fight to put me at the top of list"

Interestingly I've seen watches from greys originating from that AD...

I feel like the ADs are hyping this stuff up way more than they need to. A few months is certainly reasonable but if you try a few different ADs, you won’t be waiting years for a Sub. Are ADs in NY even open right now? I would imagine this would be a great time to buy if they are. I would bet their traffic is very slow right now. They might have lists of people to call, but if you’re in front of them you just might get Lucky.

Don't play games or waste your time. Go to a few AD's and see what kind of response you get. I would look to one of our Trusted Sellers and find the watch you want. It will be at retail or a little more but by the time you add in taxes from the AD you will be close. Get the watch you want, pay for it and have it tomorrow by 1030 a.m. Then get on with the ownership experience. Good luck.

Yes the ADs are open, at least by appointment, and let me tell you they are not very slow. I got lucky and picked up a Hulk from my AD and the AD was full of people dropping coin including 2 customers picking up Rolexes from the cabinet (not called), a lady buying a solid gold AP out of their second hand counter, and another customer buying a Patek.

It isn't slow at my AD (one of the largest) and getting a Sub is very much so still at the discretion of the AD and how "incentivized" they are to want to help you, as they would get hundreds of requests on a normal day, so spending money definitely helps.

One of the only reasons I don’t want to go gray is because I want a Batgirl in a few months as well and that’s significantly more expensive through grey. I feel if I purchase a watch now and immediately tell the AD I want the batgirl they may be a bit more inclined to help me out.

I would probably just buy the Batgirl grey but the way grey prices are, I can get an OP39 or Sub and wait a few months (hopefully) and purchase a Batgirl for almost the same price as just a grey Batgirl.
I don’t have a pressing need for it, however I do have a burning want.

Wait times vary of course. It's certainly the easiest Submariner variation to get in stainless steel. Most of the grey dealers aren't even marking up the reference much because wait times seem to be on the lower side. I think the 114060 is the quintessential Rolex.

That’s how I’m starting to feel as well. Initially I had placed the order for the OP39 but seeing all the pictures of the No Date on this forum and on Reddit made me fall in love with it. Then seeing a few people getting a call after just 10 or so days made me realize it’s certainly possible without a huge purchase history.

It is possible, I don’t have a huge purchase history with my AD, but established a relationship with the owner and got my 114060 rather quickly. Love it by the way - great choice.

Have to agree with some of the posters above.

Got my sub from grey dealer and don't regret it. Ordered it 2pm on a Tuesday and had it by 12pm the next day. No bs from the AD, not having to beg to spend $10k on a watch.

Paid a bit of a premium but the enjoyment I've gotten out of it thus far definitely makes up for it. Why have to wait 1 year when I can have it now and enjoy it while I can?

Chrono24 is best bet or call around. The relationship remarks will help you as much as making a relationship with your car salesman will. It's a fallacy. Reoccurring revenue and hitting targets is what talks to sales folk. So for one watch it's a numbers game ! Good luck
