Not only do I love the symmetry of the dial of my Moon Watch but it's one of the most comfortable watches with a bracelet that I own.
Super low profile!
And, unlike the Daytona, for me, it's very easy to read.
This is my 3572.50 hesalite/sapphire.

Same here. I started with Omega before switching to Rolex. The only Omega I kept was my Speedmaster Pro. Now pretty much a Rolex convert. Totally different watch to the Speedmaster but great to have both!

As long as this thread stays alive, I'll keep posting pics and insisting that the Speedy in NOT underwhelming.

It's a precision space instrument, what could be more cool than that?!

Indeed! What's said to be the first commemorative case back from 1970, says it all.

My "straight writing" Speedy is going a little bit tropical. Joined in the evening light by another favourite from around the same year. Can't go wrong with either of these.

I think Every Rolex lover could use a speedy in the collection.
Love the moon phase.

I almost bought a brand new one before but thought it was bland and backed out. Last year I got a chance to buy preowned at a reputable dealer. He gave me good price so I bought it. I got the 1863 movement. It's the hesalite front and sphire back which is a perfect combination for me. I was enjoying the bracelet but felt tired and bought the omega NATO :)

Never had that feeling.

But have sold twice and to buy it again...

I'm on my third, this time a FOIS and ordered a Speedy Tuesday edition, will decide once I see it if I get it or not.

Wouldn't buy a bracelet model and never ever ever an automatic. its in now way the best watch in the world but it has its place at its price point and to me every collection should have one

Own and above owned plenty of watches both new and vintage.

The First Omega in Space is probably my favourite watch in my collection.

I bought one about ten years ago and was underwhelmed and sold it. That was a mistake due to inexperience and poor expectations.

Since then I am a huge fan of Speedmasters (and eternally looking for a Mitsukoshi - I have dealers in Japan keeping their eyes peeled for me).

I think the shock comes from expectation versus reality. Speedy Pro people REALLY love their watches and we see these huge artsy photos in great lighting sometimes with filters, but when the box comes and you open them up, it is a rather simple looking tool watch.

I personally love old Speedmasters and own a few, but it took a while to appreciate them for what they are - a really cool tool watch that will last forever. The movement really is amazing, really forms a bond with the owner, and there are no Speedmaster fakes (with correct subdial spacing) which makes it a bit more exclusive. In fact I rarely see Speedys in the wild. It is definitely a watch people wear for themselves. You're going to see a hell of a lot more 116610 or 16610 out there than Speedy Pros (not bashing Rolex - Rolex is my favorite watch but you must admit they are on every 5th wrist you see, at least where I live).

I do feel a bit sad about where Omega is pushing the Speedmaster with marketing. In the past it was a "middle-class nerdy engineer's watch" and now Omega is pushing it as a "middle-manager with a nod to history" watch. The endless limited editions have become a bit grating. I'm sad to see them become a luxury fashion watch rather than an in-the-know nerd's tool watch, but that is the trend with every single mainstream Swiss brand so I'm not at all surprised. At least James Bond hasn't worn a Speedmaster yet so it can keep its lineage with history rather than fiction.

I love that there are so many differing opinions on the same watch. For me, the Speedy with Hesalite crystal is the watch I find myself grabbing more often than any of the others in my collection (Rolex 1675, Sub, Panerai 88, Heuer Pasadena). It's the perfect size and doesn't pretend to be something it's not. In fact, I was thinking of buying another one. As someone earlier stated, for the price you just can't beat it. I admit I'm a sucker for history, but I would love to own a vintage Speedy even if it looks almost identical to my daily wearer. Also, I love the bracelet. When I take off my other watches I inevitably grab the sides of the clasp to release them (it doesn't work!).
