Speedy with sapphire crystal and exhibition back

Hi, I have a chance to pick up a Speedmaster at a decent price. I've always envisioned the classic Speedy to have a Hesalite crystal with a solid case back. The one I can buy has the sapphire crystal with the exhibition case back.

Just wondering what the perception is of a Speedy in the above stated config.

Thanks in advance!

I think it's great. When I compared with the hesalite, there was only one winner for me personally, but the saph is maybe a little more practical due to not being that easy to scratch.

Either way, no wrong choices really. A great watch. Go for it.

Great watch but I love my basic hesalite Speedmaster, nice thing about hesalite is that the scratches can be easily buffed out. I'm no expert but it seems that most people prefer the hesalite version.

It's just a matter of taste.....I personally favor the hesalite without the see through caseback. But I do also own a 3752.50 that has hesalite + see through sapphire caseback so I can see the appeal....just doesn't last as you're not looking at the movement/caseback when not wearing the watch.

Some favor a sapphire crystal over hesalite.....I myself don't since hesalite can actually take a bigger impact without breaking/shattering (hence the main consideration for NASA) and any normal scratches thin or semi deep comes out with a little polywatch/elbow grease. Far cheaper to replace than sapphire too in case you actually need to replace one. I also don't love the ring the sapphire crystal casts around the dial of the watch when you look @ it straight on....versus that nice clear (almost vintage) look of the hesalite.

No losers here though, you'll find arguments on both sides.

I prefer the hesalite but there's nothing wrong with the sapphire speedy at all, it's a fine watch
