That watch looks beautiful...it will do it's next to an Air-King 40
Hi all
The Air-King is classed as the worst current Rolex to own even though it's a milgauss with a different dial.better hands and a better none polished center link and costs £1500 less than the milgauss So it's a bargain. I own one and love it..beauty is in the eye of the beholder OLet's see the pictures of the ugly duckling Air-King which in the future will be a beutiful swan next to another watch. starter picture That BBR looks beautiful next to the Air-King |

Who made this classification? |

The BBR looks nice next to a lot of watches which is why I got one... though unlike you, I committed heresy by getting a dive watch on a leather strap so it can't go diving
The Air-King looks like its designer was somebody's grandma after they came back from 'computers for seniors' class and someone had shown them the Font button for the first time. [ducks] |

A. It’s simply not been “classed as the worst current Rolex to own” and to quote, well... you, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
B. It is a really cool watch and I do agree it’s a relatively good buy for the money, however I personally can’t get over the 3, 6, and 9 markers on the dial. If they changed that part of the dial I might be a buyer. It’s almost as if when they were making the dial they realized they had a bunch of Arabic 3s, 6s and 9s lying around from the ex1 parts bin and figured, hey let’s not waste these lol. Anyway, they just look out of place IMO, but hey, like you said beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Congrats on two great watches! |

My brother recently picked up one of these and it's lovely in the flesh.
However in photographs with poor lighting, the dial appears to be overly busy and the colours quite garish. |

I really don't see the AK as being the worst Rolex design in the current line-up.
I just see it as ... different, which is good because I go against the trend. |

Many think the AK looks the result of an explosion at an arabic numerals factory. I think it pops.

I love that some people hated this watch. That’s fine. I find this watch versatile and fun, and never had any difficulty reading the time in minutes, even the much hated 3-6-9 index. To me, it’s a very intuitive watch. I’m at a point in my watch collection looking for a logo color collection and have found this Air King to be unIque, similar to the Pam logo. To each his own. I absolutely love the Air-King, but it took seeing one in the metal to get there. In pics, like many others, I thought- “wtf??” In the metal it works so, so well IMO.

I wonder what WIS would have said about the Badly selling Daytona way back in the day, had internet forums been around?
I know the same can’t really happen now to a slow selling Rolex because they’ll still plenty relatively. |

Had one for awhile as a daily and shared space with my Zblue but reluctantly traded it on an Expll. Loved the Air King but time to go.

Big AK fan, luckily for me I tend to like the more unpopular watches. I have my eye on either a YM or DJ41 TT for my next purchase.

I think the Air King looks great, I’d consider picking one up if it came across my path.

To me, the Airking is one of those watches that look better in person than in photos. If they ever changed the 3, 6, 9 to 15, 30, 45 I think they would have a real winner.

More pics please
takes to see the Air-King in the flesh to understand it Other than its anti magnetic protection the best thing about the Air-King is the dial. Which comes into its own depending which of the numbers you look at Look at the quarter past..half past and quarter to You see the 3.6.9 which have a 3Daytona effect and you don't notice the 5.10.20 etc you see it as an hour watch Focus on the 5.10.20 etc you do not see the 3.6.9 and it becomes a minutes timer busy dial yes...but brilliantly designed..definitely with the added green and yellow for that sparkle of colour Thanks for your replys to this thread I now find that the current Air-King watch is actually liked... Thanks for your inputs |

As said earlier loved my Air King, such a cool dial the only thing I thought that would have made it better was if the 5 was 05. Nitpicking but it kinda bothered me.

It’s a unique watch that I guess has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated

It is the least complicated but doesn't mean worst. Same movement as no date sub and op. There is no worst Rolex

The design of the dial is rather unique and it started to glow on me. I feel its a daring move therefore not suitable for rolex fan that preferred 'very rolex' looks. I simply love the splash of colours.

If only it didn't have the 369 and was named a speed-king.
When it's discontinued the price will be interesting to watch. |
