Great write up and congrats on the new YM
Taste really varies doesn't it.
I "like" the way the end links were longer then the lugs as it makes the watch wear larger.
I like it so much I put a YM bracelet on my Sub C
Thanks again for your comparison

Great comparison! Thanks!
I like the newer bracelet more with the PCL's, but I prefer the way the end-links look on the lugs of the 16622

But in conclusion, both are great looking watches!

Great writeup!

I wonder if the new bracelet would fit the old case.

Otherwise, they're two very similar watches. Unlike the 116610 vs 16610 where there are HUGE changes. It seems most of the major changes with the YM are on the bracelet.

I know this is an old thread but I did not see clarification as to whether the change was to the lugs or to the bracelet to ensure a smooth transition? The reason I ask is I would consider putting an Everest band on it for weekend activities and they lost their strap to fit both, curious if it is not going to smoothly transition on one or the other.

If I remember correctly, the lugs on the 116622 are slightly different as well.
It's been two years since I've had the 16622 next to mine, so I can't give you a conclusive answer. All I have are those photos.

Thanks for this comparison thread. Very informative along with the general 10662 topic.

I ended up buying a used 16622 with a V serial. All the original items were included (tags, card, books, receipt, box).

I love my Z series 16622 and have been trying to source a new style bracelet for it. The old one just doesn't fit as good as my other watches.

Hi and thanks for doing this write-up with pics and all. I'm actually in the process of deciding whether to get the old or pay a bit more for the newer model. This was really helpful!

16622 vs 116622 in Photographs

Does anyone know if these bezels can be refinished if they start to show too many unbearable scratches? I'm asking for a friend that just got his a few months ago and it's his first Rolex. He is very careful but has managed to put a few scratches on the platinum bezel (nothing deep) and our AD told him there's nothing to be done even through Rolex. It's a shame because it's a new watch and it's began to really bug him. I understand the bead/sand blasted finish comes with the territory, but in all honesty it looks worse then I thought. If anyone knows any tricks please let me know! He's not a guy who's super picky, and he wears his watches to enjoy... But he didn't realize it would be this noticeable after such a short time. I wish i had pictures, my apologies! Thanks in advance, cheers!

I asked the question to my local official Rolex service desk last year. I had a tiny scratch on the platinum bezel, hardly visible, six months old watch.

They said to bring it over and that they should be able to refinish it and possibly for free, depending on the scratch depth. In the end I didn't bother going since I didn't like the idea of having the watch open and waiting six weeks for such a small thing.

If I were you I'd speak directly to a technician from the official service desk, not with the AD whom generally don't have a clue when it comes to technical stuff.

I asked my AD the same thing, and he checked with RSC on it.

According to what I was told, a full RSC service includes a new bezel for something like a 400 dollars charge.
I asked this two years ago so I might be wrong, but I guess one could easily call RSC and ask the question directly.

My bezel is still mint, but I will admit that fear of damaging it is on my mind from time to time.

Yes it can be refinished, tell your friend to contact LA Watchwerks in California as understand they refinish the bezel.

it can be finished, but it will never look the same. Unfortunately, my friend already sold it because it bothered him so bad lol. I won't say where he got it touched up, but it was somewhere very well known...they even told him it would never look the same. That's why I don't like touching anything! Leave it untouched and unpolished, I'm good with it!

The 16622 is blasted with a larger bead, which increases the glittering effect.

The 116622 is blasted with a finer grain giving it a somewhat more milky hue. In other words it shimmers more than it glitters under the same light condition.

It should have the rougher dial, with the glitter effect.

I never buy Rolex new since it does not matter and you save big bucks. Even if I was a millionaire I would buy used. I paid 28,500 for gold yacht2 and new is 47k
