Get old 2008-2011 16622

I never buy Rolex new since it does not matter and you save big bucks. Even if I was a millionaire I would buy used. I paid 28,500 for gold yacht2 and new is 47k

16622 vs 116622 in Photographs

I have a question. From side to side pictures, it seems the 16622 is darker. Is it the picture, or patina from age? Txs.

Btw awesome write up.

I blame it on the autoconnect.

The dial on the early 16622 has a slightly rougher sandblasted finish than the 116622 which is a bit smoother. Both sparkle in the sun and are the same color otherwise. Yachtmasters are insanely difficult to photograph. The same watch can have a hundred different looks depending on the lighting or angle of the watch. In bright sunlight mine sparkles like a sea of diamonds, under an overcast sky it looks grey, in the yellow light of an incandescent light it looks almost creamy.

116622 band on the 16622

Do you know the bracelet number for the new 116622 and will it fit on the 16622. My 16622 needs a new band and that would be a great upgrade if it works.

I believe a few members here have upgraded their bracelets to the newer version.

Actually the dial on the last 16622's such as the V serial I have has the smoother less sandblasted look the same as the 116622.

Nice comparisson. Are the blue dials (16622 and 116622) the same tone?

Hi Francisco - the 16622 did not come in a Blue dial - just in the platinum dial in the PL/SS version.

Great write up. I love Yacht Masters! The danger of these excellent write ups is that now I need to add yet another watch to me list. But this is helpful and makes the older model just as tempting as the new. Thanks again!

Hmm, have seen 16622 with blue dial, perhaps owner install one from a 116622 as understand they share same movement ?

Great review and pics Chip! I agree and prefer the 5 digit dial, but if I was in the market would be hard pressed to pass on the new bracelet. Congrats on the new watch.

There are so many things I love about the YM but the bezel drove me nuts.

Some guy on eBay sells 16622's with blue dials and the newer clasp. Aftermarket of course.

Aftermarket dial, clasp or both? The ones I have seen were on the forums if not mistaken so probably just a 16622 with a 116622 blue dial

This is what I meant (example from chrono24), 16622 with the blue dial (They labeled it as a 116622 but if that model then the bracelet is from the older series and the warranty certificate is incorrect)

Why did you guys bring this thread back lol
I sold my 116622 in 2016 to help pay for the 116655, but after seeing this thread I now miss it terribly. :)

Is it possible to verify the authenticity of the bezel on the ym16622?
Should be possible right since it cost so much

Great write-up, SLRDude. This was the ONLY link that came up on a Google search of "16622 vs 116622". IMHO, the 116622 is the clear choice as they fixed some of the "inadequacies" of the 116622. The overly long end link of the 16622 always bugged me visually...nicely"corrected" with the 116622.

That’s crazy lol.
I figured there are dozens of comparisons, if not more.
